I don't know if this is possible, but here's what I want to do and want to know if it's possible. I want to connect a photo printer, that I already have, to a laptop and be able to print portably. I was thinking about rigging a car or marine battery to a power inverter through a cigarette lighter in a project box and just plugging in the printer to the inverter. The only hitch in my plan is how can I recharge the car/marine battery after use? Since the battery won't be in a car it won't have an alternator to keep it juiced.

So how can I recharge the battery at home after use? Is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

PS. Mods if this is in the wrong forum, please move it to where it should be, I couldn't figure out where it should go. Thanks.

You can by cheap battery chargers for car batteries that will charge overnight, or in 8 to 12 hours. Is this what you mean?

So, I can charge the car battery outside of the car in my house with one of these?

You should be able too. I would suggest doing it in the garage on a work bench.

Yea, you can get them at almost any hardware store i've been to.

In fact... what you are describing is exactly what the "Motomaster Power Box" is.
