BAD_POOL_CALLER

I see that quite a bit when I'm having driver problems. Just recently I was working on a customers computer, loaded Microsoft "certified" 56k modem drivers and 2 seconds later had the bad pool caller bsod. If it happens with games I would look at your video card drivers and update if available.

Well it is 64k. ;) I don't believe however that the hardforums allow a file to be uploaded. Can you put it somewhere I can get at it?

This memory corruption. Are you Overclocking? Have good memory chips? I would run a memory tester.
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

no overclocking...

I use crucial techology RAM (2x512mb), they are "registered" RAM

I used that MS program before, when i brought some second hand RAM chips about a year ago, they turned out to be faulty. Becuase they were covered by lifetime warrenties from crucial i send them back for replacements. i'll try the program again...

Sooo these chips are new......so should be ok no??

thing to mention tho i swapped the both RAM chips round, so that RAM in DIMM 1 was now in put in DIMM 2 and vice versa. and windows couldn't start becuase ntfs.sys was missing or corrupted. Yet when i restarted the computer again it started fine.

Could it be windows has just had an "off" day??

Before formating this computer, I used to recieive (twice>>) IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL (or similar can't remember exactly) and (once>>) NON_PAGED_AREA errors, in the space of 6 months.

sorry just noticed that RAM value is a mistake i got 2x256mb = 512mb

Just ran that test (took ages) and not errors where reported...

Out of interest I'm having some thermal problems with this PC, the inside case temp is about 44C, could this be enough to cause RAM to fail?

Ranma_Sao said:
maybe. Thermal always makes wierd errors occur.

well in that case then i'll have to leave this problem till summer, i haven't got the time to drill holes into may case to make way for more fans...

thanks for the help...!

soooo u work at microsoft?? wots it like?

ok Ranma_sao the same thing happened today again when playing a game....

i was searching around looking for answers and found an interesting comment on a forum, that if there isn't enough power to the motherboard/graphics card this error can happen since memory is the first thing to go.

My prob is i read the manual and it seems this motherboard requires 30A on the +5V connector to the motherboard, i'm silly coz the power supply in their right now only supplies 20A.

could this be the problem?? ;)

Sure, usually that would cause a machine check exception, but it is possible.
