Im running an Athlon64 3500 on a Gigabyte K8V Ultra 939 in a Wavemaster with both side panels off. Ambient is around 25C
With the standard cooler Im gettingaround 44C idle and over 70 on full load (Prime95)
Ive tried 2 other coolers, and Active Cool jobby and a Scythe Kamikobo Z, and they both give temps over 70C on full load.
Im monitoring using the Gigabyte hardware monitor, MBM5 and Ive also tried SpeedFan. If I shutdown and reboot into the BIOS, Im also seeing high temps in the hardware monitor in there.
Using MBM5's logging, I start Prime95 the temp rises from 44 to 67 in 2 secs!! Peaking at 77. If I turn Prime95 off, the temp drops from 77 to 55 in 2 secs. Surely this cant be right? Theres no way an air cooler can dissipate 22 degrees in 2 seconds is there?
Im beginning to wonder if the board is reading the temps right, since all 4 methods of monitoring read the same, and all 3 coolers give the same amount of cooling (when Id have expected a big difference between the stock cooler and the Kami)
Ive flashed the BIOS to the latest version (F3), and it hasnt helped at all.
Any ideas anyone?
