Asus P5K-E CPU Multi won't change?!

Hello,

I just put my new build together and cannot for the life of me get my Q6600 on my P5K-E to change its multiplier. I have changed the settings in the BIOS to manual and set the multiplier to 9 and here is what happens. In the BIOS and at POST it will display at 3GHZ (9x333) but once I get to 64bit Vista and run CPU-Z it will report I'm running at 6 x 333 or 2Ghz. Has anyone seen this before? It's like the OS is playing with the multiplier as it would with a mobile processor...:confused:
 
Intel Speedstep, disable EIST in the bios if you don't want this to happen.
 
I gave this a try and it's doing the same thing. 3Ghz in the BIOS and then 2 in CPU-Z under Vista64.

 
Resolved:

Turned off C1E and SpeedStep and now running solid at 3Ghz. It's a good place to start for my first Intel based system since the 550E. :D
