My AsRock Phantom Gaming 7900xtx with the 550w bios, just installed and tuned it in today. Still on the stock cooling for the moment. next mod will be to de-shroud it, 3d print a mounting plate and install some 120mm howler fans on it, but very pleased so far!

Just curious why did you choose to go with another 7900 (judging from your sig, you already have one) over the 9070's? VRAM?

Sig was way outdated but i was offered this one for $800, already flashed and with 7950 pads. I made a few quick calls and sold my old one for $800, So I broke even and didn't have to fool with flashing it.

Why not water cool it with this? Water cooling my 7900 increased my under volt capability substantially for sustained higher core clocks. Can't speak to maxxing it out above 400 plus watts though.

Yes I've looked at that block before. Honestly, I want to see how far I can get on air first.

Water is always faster and cooler. The problem is adding the extra loop and weight to the system.

I can understand wanting the convenience of air though. What temps are you getting on the 7900 XTX when you Furmark, do game benchmarks, or run vigorous stress testing?

Not good. Hotspot is 95 and v-ram is 76 with fans at 100%

Today I swapped out the 105cfm Phantek fans for some 130 cfm Ice-Gale Thermal Xtra fans on my AsRock 7900 xtx with 550w bios and moved to #29 on the 9950x3d/7900xtx top 100 list. The fans lowered my temps to 84c on hotspot and 72c on v-ram. The chip on this card is golden!
