Artifacts and POOR framerate with SLI enabled

Hey everyone... This is really starting to drive me nuts!! First let me give you the specs to my computer --

Abit KN8 SLI
Athlon 4400x2
Corsair DDR 400 Dual Channel - 2x1GB
Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM Drive
Vid Card 1: EVGA p2 n515 7800GT
Vid Card 2: Gigabyte 7800GT - GV-NX78T256D
Dell 2405 Flat Panel Display
Sound Blaster X-Fi X-Music Sound card
Antec TPII-550 SLI PSU
Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite (with 64bit drivers)
Windows XP x64

I've updated the drivers for everything. The computer seems to run fast the framerates I'm getting are horrible. With SLI enabled, I can't break 60 FPS in Counter-Strike source (while vertical sync is enabled) and when I turn off v-sync, I get to about 75 fps (though it drops down to the 40's most of the time) and I have artifacts on the left side of my screen... 2 white lines run vertically down the left side about 2 inches apart filled with a green overlay.... Nothing runs smooth!!! It's seems all choppy.

I know my video cards are different manufacturers. I was able to get one from a friend for cheap, but I checked ahead of time that nvidia would support two different makes of the same chip.

Any suggestions? This is starting to kill me :(
 
have u tried them seperately to see if one is crap...maybe thats why the friend gave it to you cheap...
 
I bought it new from him... it was unopened when I got it but I'll try switching them out.
 
Also make sure you use the bridge chip and set the sli selecter switch to sli, if you havn't already.
 
i've got the bridge chip installed... is there a physical switch I need to flip to enable it? I have it enabled on the computer in the nvidia control panel

I'm not sure, read your manual and see what it says, although I will have to flip a physical selecter card around on my tforce 6100 SLI, it will be here in a couple hours then I can do some testing in SLI.

Have you tried setting CS:S physical affinity to one, just launch up cs:s go into the task manager under programs select CS and then select affinity and uncheck one cpu, that might also fix it.
 
sculelos: thanks! making it only run on CPU 0 my framerate went up to 220fps, but I'm still getting artifacts on my screen... is there any way to automatically set this everytime I run cs or other games?

actualyl in the AMD processor section of this Forum...theres some stickes with several programs to set the affinity permanently and there are links to where u can download the fix
 
the grey and green lines are the SLI overlay, Just disable it :) Its not artifacting :p

as to the "low frame rates" what settings are you running, and how many monitors? (KOTOR2 CHOKES on my computer with both enabled)

0mega: are you talking about disabling SLI or turn off "SLI Overlay"? I can't find any options anywhere where it talks about disabling SLI overlay :(
