I just downloaded the AOE3 demo, and I am getting an interesting error when I try to play the game. It says I have a video error which could be a driver, directx, ect issue, and to check the log file. So, I check the log file, and here is what is says :

PreGame 5096: nvCPL reports 1 GPU(s).
PreGame 5097: Unable to get SLI mode!

Anyone got an idea whats up with that? I only have one video card, so I clearly don't have, nor am I able to enable SLI mode. It appears as though the game is trying to run is SLI mode... I don't get it. Assuming it was drivers, I unstalled my drivers, ran driver cleaner, and isntalled 78.01's (not 100% waht i was on before, 77.77 I think), same issue. Anyone got any ideas as to whats going on? Has anyone else had this issue with this game and a 7800GTX?

Are you doing any tweaking to the drivers after you install them? If so unistall them then reinstall without any tweaking.

Nope...installed them and ran it right off, didnt do a thing.

One thing I thought it might have been, is despite having only one card, I have the SLI bridge attached. I plan to do SLI eventually, and know I'd loose that stupid thing by the time I did, so I figured what would it hurt to just put it on the card. I thought it may be that, so I took it off, and still had the same problem. Hrm.

the demo works fine for me. I dont have an sli board though. It's probably something in nview that you need to disable.

I had to turn off AA and AS in order to get it to work. You may try that...

Fixed the problem. Despite the error message, it had nothing to do with SLI, It was my monitor (2005fp). I made a cfg file to force the game to 1680x1050, and its working like a champ!
