Anyone picking up Blur?

am i correct in thinking this is an adult mario kart? thats the vibe i got from the tv ad if so ill have to try it out
 
This is what it's advertising itself as, saw the TV ad for it last night, pretty funny.
 
I wonder how customizable the cars are. Looks like it would be fun with a lot of friends.
 
I pre-ordered it. I've heard good things about the beta and it's not like there is anything comparable on PC. I just hope there is a good community for it.
 
It all depends on how the cars feel - I hate driving hover crafts. I want to feel the weight of the car.

I played it at E3 last year. That is exactly what it is. Pretty fun, but I'm gonna pass for the time being only because I have a huge pile of games I still need to play through (Red Dead Redemption, Mario Galaxy 2, Starcraft 2, etc etc)
 
I played the Beta on Xbox 360. While it was fun with a couple buddies, I won't be shelling out money for this unless its on one of those crazy Steam deals more than likely.
 
Yeah, I saw it and am thinking about nabbing it. My main reason would be online car battles with my friends. :)
 
I also am going to wait for a review - but honestly this doesn't look like it will be my cup of tea.

I hated Burnout Paradise. Too much of an arcade game for my tastes. Which is why I didn't even consider Split/Second - why would a developer feel the need to mix racing with destructible environments? I want to race cars, not go around smashing stuff. That title must've been made with ten year old kids in mind.

Shift I loved. Grid was alright. Dirt 2 was just plain fun. Fuel, like Dirt 2, was another arcade game, but the developer managed to make it fun.

To get me to buy this game I'm going to need to read a review or try a demo.

EDIT: Sadly, this has got Burnout Paradise written all over it. There are 'power ups' in this game.

IGN only gave it a 7.0 rating, compared to the 8.5 it game Splitsecond (which I'm loving, 30fps or not). I dunno, I'll give it a rent on my Xbox or PS3.
 
I won't play a arcade style racing game, only sims. I can't play a game where you can crash into a wall doing 100 miles a hour and drive away..
 
I'm interested in it cause Bizarre Creations does do car games well and I'm a big fan of Mario Kart. But I'll wait till it is on sale on Steam to pick it up, I'm in no hurry to give Activison any money.

Because not everyone has the same tastes as you? Weaponized racing has been around for a while you know... and not all of it is mario kart.

I'm waiting to see if blur is Hor+ or if it has the same fail as split second.
