Android development question

Hi,

I want to develop an android app as a hobby. I downloaded the sdk and tried doing some of the tutorials online. I was able to accomplish everything but, feel like I don't have a good grasp on how to develop my own app. I haven't programmed in java for some time and when I did it was for CS courses so it was far more basic than what is required in android.

I am now primarily a python programmer and have gotten used how easy things are with python. Going back to java is so painful.

Thus, I was wondering if anybody could recommend a resource that can teach me about android and java for android. I understand the basic syntax of java programs but, not the complicated things.

I would love to be able to create python apps in android but, it seems like android is java only.

any help/direction would be appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendation.

It seems just the type of book that would work for me.
