Hey Xu,

I need the serial number to register the cpu for you, you can find it on
top of your cpu, on a sticker on the side of your box heatsink, on the
certificate of authenticy and on the cardboard box your cpu and heatsink
was delivered in.

Sascha Krohn

I bought my cpu from Fry's electronics on 2/22/06. It's an AMD A64 3200+ Venice 939. Serial number will be given upon request if
needed. Thank you for your time.

give them some more time?

you never did state what the problem was though :p

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but I've had nothing short of amazing service from them. First problem I had was a vender selling me a modded 2700+ ---> 3200+ (semi common way back when). It was OEM, and the guys at AMD send me a brand new 3200+ even though it had NOTHING to do with them! Then my 3700 A64 was not booting, so they sent me a 4000 A64, free of charge with the newer San Diego core. Who cares about this little Conroe thingy, AMD for life!

He said it would take 1-2 days to verify the serial number and it took him a whole 4 days (business days). I don't see all that wrong with their support from your e-mail chains.

Some people have no patience. Learn it and live it! AMD isn't a fast food burger joint. It says right in your warranty papers that it can take two to four business weeks for a replacement. I haven't had to read the warranty papers in quite sometime, so that may have changed. Anyhow, you've only been waiting six business days. Give it some more time.

took then 1 day to add my CPU to DB and submit the RMA...took about a week for them to get my CPU(shipped over night to them), test it, and send it back to me. only complaint i had with my RMA was that fedex was crap. they said it was the second attampt on the first delivery, they put the wrong tracking number on the shipping paper they left on my dorr, and they left my Opteron 165 on the ground outside my apartment building, without a signature. AMD was great, FedEx sucked.

Maybe had you given him a description of the problem and serial number first, it would be a little further along by now. That right there has added 2 days onto it.

I needed to RMA a 3200+ E6. I emailed the address in the box but spam filters auto-rejected me. I tried the web site but had problem after problem(I think they were working on the site.) I called on the phone and a message said to go to the web site. The page was still not working so I talked to tech support. Tech support answered fast and told me to go back to the page that would not work. After four times telling him about my problems he filed the RMA. I shipped it off, one week after they received it they shipped a E3 back to me, Weeks latter they emailed me and said if they did not receive my CPU my RMA would be canceled?

I guess I'm happy now, but a month of that is too much.

Does anyone know if AMD has outsourced their RMA work? We've been hearing about increasing problems with RMA's now.

I've only RMA'd two processors to AMD over a period of five to six years. The first was a 2400XP and I received a replacement within one week.
The second CPU was a S754 Athlon 64 2800+, RMA'd in September 2004. AMD replaced it with a S754 3000+ core, again within one week.

I attempted to RMA an FX-55 CPU. On the phone they promised that I would be contacted with the info so that I could mail the item in for testing.

Two weeks later I received a survey to rate their customer support, but I never was contacted otherwise. I gave them the lowest possible scores and input text to indicate that I was still waiting but never heard from them.

What is wrong with that support?

You could have cut a lot of time from the start if you filled in your email more properly and provided the serial up front including a request for rma... you could have cut half those emails out.

I think this is a user error, not an AMD issue.

When I RMAd I just filled out some junk on their webpage, got an email telling me where to send it, sent it, got one back in a few weeks. Voula all done.
