anyone have any info on amd's next generation cpu ? will it still work with regular ddr memory ? im thinking of getting the ASRock 939Dual-SATA motherboard that will have a card to allow the use of the next AMD cpu .im getting it so that i can do upgrades a few hundred bucks at a time instead of a 500 to 600 buck chunk . thanks
 
The on-chip memory controller will be for DDR2. I seriously doubt that you will be able to use DDR with that CPU.
 
So far, everything I have read points to DDR2 only for AM2.
 
i have the asrock board as well, the upgrade slot will hold both the new AM2 chip as well as the DDR2 RAM...as the new chips memory controller is built for only DDR2
