Voltage-bios=1.35, everest reading=1.4
Load temp=55C air cooling with ultra 120.

I'm not positive that the temps are right, given that nothing reads the individual cores of my cpu right(both cores will read around 25C at load while the cpu reading is at 55C.) I guess I'll have to wait for a bios update from abit to get the proper readings. But its stable and thats whats matters.
 
So I've been playing with my new toy for the past few days, haven't gotten found the stable top overclock for it yet though. I did get to 290*9.5 on the DDR2-800 divider, so kind of 1:1, ram was overclocked to 550 Mhz, or DDR2-1100. That was with 2.4V to the ram though, and I don't want to be doing that every day.

Here's what I think will be my final overclock. It doesn't break any records, but it's still decent, fast enough for me:



That's on 1.325 Vcore. I can get it to 300*9.5, but I need like 1.4V. The volts look high in Windows, maybe they are, but everyone who knows the Brisbane+Tforce 550 combo knows that this motherboard overvolts the CPU like crazy. Oh well.

Try leaving the multi at auto.... it should be at 9.5 for the Brisbane chip... I assume that's what you have, unless the 3600+ is the Windsor chip with half the L2 cache.... but if it's the Brisbane, then they don't really like the 9x multi, set it to auto and maybe you'll have better success with it. You have the best AM2 mobo out there... well at least the most expensive.... I wanted it for the bling bling lights, but didn't have the money.

I just think the Asus boards don't really like the brisbanes... or at least oc them well.
 
Well I was able to bump the FSB while lowering the voltage Using the Asus AiBooster software... ran 8hrs of blended tests... The only thing that is starting to worry me is the temps... Not sure how hot and if 59 was the highest then not sure I want my temp to sit that high all the time... I can take pics of the case along with my airflow... I would like to get 2.7 out of this thing stable... the first chip I had x2 3600+ did 2.75 but not so stable.

My CPU is a Brisbane... at 9.5 and higher FSB it seems to become flakey. So I found x9 to be a "sweet spot".

Well I have never overclocked and I tried it out on the brisbane/biostar te 550. Can some of yall post your settings for a noob like me? I can't seem to get higher than 300 x 9. I have to keep HTT multi at 3x and ddr533. Can those of you that broke 300 with a 9.5 multi give some insight on all of your settings?

Can you put all your specs in your sig or the post? That way we can have a rough idea with everything you're using. you might be limited by the brand of ram you have... or a psu that is flaky. :)
 
it's next to impossible to be limited by the ram when overclocking.. just set the 200mhz memory ratio :eek: :D

Yeah I have trouble understanding the memory ratio, but isn't faster memory speeds better. Or does it balance out with the increased clock speeds?

I have included my specs in my sig. I feel like i should be able to run 2.8, but I can't even come close tot he numbers yall reached with a 9.5 multiplier.
 
for this database, we're looking at how fast the cpu can go, not how good we can get overall performance. drop the ratio, find the maximum cpu overclock, then bump up the ram speed again later ;)

I'm a noob when it comes to overclocking, especially when it comes to ram speed. I've played with the fsb settings on my mobo only to see my ddr2 800 ram run at ddr2 533 speeds. What am I doing wrong?

If you have the RAM speed set to auto then it'll clock it pretty low... when overclocking it's good to take most things off AUTO and set it at default and learn what your computer likes, dislikes, etc. That way you can get the most out of ALL your hardware.

K. I set the ram in bios to clock at ddr2 800. Did a mild overclock to 2.1 by just moving the fsb (221 x 9.5) When I check cpu-z, the cpu clock is where it should be, but the ram is running at 200mhz, or what i assume to be ddr2 400 speed. I set the ram clock to ddr2 800 in bios, but did not touch anything else about the ram, leaving everything else, such as CAS and whatnot at auto.

Any ideas?
 
My results coming in 2 weeks or so. Ordering mine now..

My setup is in sig. All same except for cpu.

Isn't that relative to what speed your memory can do?? Mine is at 460 Mhz or DDR2-920

Funny.... well sometimes apparently CPU-Z reads memory speeds/timings incorrectly... get a different program and see what it says, Sandra/Everest/something else... at the 667 divider CPU-Z reads my memory speed correctly, but at 533 divider it says it's divided by 7, when it's actually divided by 8....

K, you're heading down the path that I'm trying to understand. What exactly are the memory dividers of the different ddr2 speeds?

It's exactly what they say, dividers. Take the speed of your CPU, stock 3600+ being 1.9 Ghz, using the DDR2-800 divider (won't be exact because the Brisbane 65nm CPU's use 1/2 multipliers). The DDR2-800 divider is /5, so 1.9 Ghz, or 1900 Mhz divided by 5 = 380 Mhz RAM speed. It's not a perfect divider because it's supposed to work with full dividers, the 3800+ CPU uses the 10x multiplier, 10x200=2 Ghz, 2000 Mhz/5 = 400 Mhz RAM speed.

Usually the DDR2-667 is /6, DDR2-533 is /7 or /8.... and DDR2-400 is /10, that's on my board with the 3600+.

Check around the forums, there's some good overclocking guides here. Eclipse has a pretty good one, check his sig. Basically you want to first of all, find the top FSB of your motherboard, how far it will be able to go with overclockability, then how far your RAM will overclock stably, then your CPU. Then you have to find a good CPU speed and RAM speed which work together for best performance. It does take some work, especially finding how far you can get with still being stable.

it's an overclocking database.. to see what speeds the chips can hit. memory is completely unrelated, so no. make a different thread if you really want to see that
 
i've been asked that before, and i decided against it, since the motherboard you have has minimal effect on overclocking the processor with amd, unless you get one that can't hit high enough htt, at which point you would post that you're htt limited.
 
I cannot agree with you at this point. I think motherboards and their bioses effects the overclocking of a cpu at first hand. A friend of mine has a DFI Infinity C51PV-M2/G with a Brisbane 3600+ and he has all sorts of stability issues with overclocking. I don't think it's too hard to add two more columns into this table.

I just built a computer yesterday with following items:
Brisbane 3600 AM2 socket .Biostar K8M800 with AGP slot,2 G of Kingston HyperX 6000 memory ,Ultra X 600 W psu ,so i was thinking to overclock little bit if i can reach arround 2.4 2.5 Ghz i will be happy.
Anybody can help with that Biostar Bios will be very appreaciated.
