I have an FX-51, and I am a little behind on what are best heatsinks for the 64s.. I was looking for something semi-quiet, but keeps the processor in the low 30s or lower with stock speeds. Right now with the stock fan I am getting ~43C Idle and ~53C load.

the zalman CNPS7000's are great coolers and are fairly quiet. you could also get a xp-120 with a s940 bracket, pair it up with a quiet 120mm fan and you'd have a great quiet combo.

any of those are good, personally i prefer thermalright, i love their products, and the xp120 is great, cools good and can fit a silent 120mm fan on it, or the SLK-948 is good too, its a lot smaller than the xp120 but cools comparabilty, with a 90mmfan though so it might be a little louder

all three of those are awesome coolers though, you it almost comes down to, do you want 2x80mm fans, 1x 90mm or 1x 120mm fan?

I like my coolermaster hyper 6.

this paired up with two quiet fans would also be great. most of the hsf combos mentioned would be fine, so it's pretty much down to making a decision. the best in terms of silence/cooling would probably be the xp-120, but it's also the most expensive and largest (and doesn't include a 120mm fan). is there any price limit to what you want to buy?

the hyper 6 cools better than the xp-120 period...i've owned both

Would the XP-120 fit on an SK8V without hitting anything?
get the hyper 6.

Is your heatsink the one with the copper base and aluminum fins? If so, would you mind sending it to me if i payed for shipping? :)

It has aluminum fins, but not sure what the base it made of.. I would sell it if someone was interested, but I am sorry I wouldnt give it away... First of all, I am a pack mule (I keep everything), secondly I would use it if the one that I got did somthing wrong, brakes, etc., thirdly I might get an OEM processor later, and use that fan for it, while the new one on this.

thats fine, the one that comes with the newcasltes are all aluminum, i'm just looking to see if anyone has one lying around that they don't mind parting with, heh.

I love my Zalman 7000cu but any of these other suggestions are good as well. I am just biased :D

what type of fan setups were you using for both?

on the xp-120 i was using a 120mm 108 cfm sunon at full blast...

on this hyper 6 im using one 80mm vantec tornado with a vantec nexus turned all the way down...which is about 3000 rpm.

the hyper 6 cools better with less cfm's

the xp-120 is just too damn light, it might have a lot of surface area, but even though it has large footprint, it is rather dinky at the base...

the xp-120 is NOT the BEST performing heatsink, even though it does cool well.

ive had two heatsinks that perform better...the hyper 6 and my aerocool dp-102 both perform better...

i've got my athlon 64 3000+ running at 2.5 ghz at 1.7-1.74 volts using this hyper 6. my
temps range from 34C at idle to max 56C...

with the xp-120 i cannot achieve this overclock, and even at a lower voltage and clock speed the temps are higher...

even though the xp-120 uses a 120mm fan and looks huge, it really isnt all that bulky and is outperformed by heavier copper coolers...
