Adobe Issues Another Security Advisory For Adobe Flash Player

Adobe, a world leader in overlooking critical security flaws in its own products, has issued another security advisory for Flash. The company says that this latest unpatched critical vulnerability will be addressed in its monthly security update, which will be available as early as tomorrow.

A Security Advisory (APSA16-02) has been published regarding a critical vulnerability (CVE-2016-4117) in Adobe Flash Player. Adobe is aware of a report that an exploit for CVE-2016-4117 exists in the wild. Adobe will address this vulnerability in our monthly security update, which will be available as early as May 12.

I can't believe Flash hasn't been killed off already. I believe html5 can do everything Flash does. I've seen some nice software (like Adobe Captivate) that can save its content as html and does a lot of Flashy-things.
Steve Jobs was smart when he had Apple take a stand against Flash on iOS several years ago. Like his decision or not, you can't argue with the reasons for the decision (battery hog, security vulnerabilities, html Canvas, ...)

Flash is being killed-off one website at a time as HTML5 solutions are implemented. Many people will be happy campers when the last instance of Flash has been scrubbed-off the face of the planet. Good riddance, I say.

What helped at my company was to email these Advisory's to the network security engineering guys. You see their manager, its his job to look these up and he's too busy. But land it on an engineers desk and shit gets done.

I used to have it installed on Win2K Pro because that PC was offline and connected to an old school CRT (game only run in 4:3 ratio). Game would not start so asked the developer why and they said they programed it on Win2K Pro so it should work. Then finally they told me I needed Flash installed for the front end of the game to work. My shit hit the fan then and I reamed them out for using Flash.

AAC+/HE-AAC, eAAC+/AAC+ v2/HE-AAC v2 audio streaming does not work with HTML5 as of yet, Flash is still required for those unfortunately otherwise our company would of drop flash months ago.

It's a pity that neither Steam nor GOG carry that. I'm pretty sure GOG in updating the game for modern hardware and operating systems would strip it of its Adobe Flash dependency.
