Activating SATA ports

Hi, I'm pretty new at building computers, so please bear with me. I have a DFI Lanparty UT RDX200 motherboard, with two SATA HDDs, a DVD burner and a card reader plugged into SATA ports 1-4. I installed a second burner and plugged it into port 8. It wouldn't boot up, so I assume there's something I need to change in the BIOS. One site I read said to enable "Reset Configuration Data" in PNP/PCI, which I did, but when I tried to boot up, it said operating system not found and hung there.

Help!!
 
Its probably boot order. Definitely not PNP/PCI. I would change the boot order in bios and if you can not find that swap the dvd and hard drive sata cables.
 
The SATA ports are controlled by two different controllers. 1-4 are on the ATI southbridge and 5-8 are on the Sil3114 RAID controller. You'll have to look through the BIOS settings for a setting to enable the second RAID controller to be able to use it. There's a small chance that you'll not be able to boot from those ports though.
