Very interesting. Overpriced IMO, I'd like to see it come down a bit and maybe I'd give it a shot.

Wow, that is way expensive for what it is. I think using the E3-1260L is probably the main reason it costs so much. They're probably also putting a premium on having hot-swap bays.

They could have used the E3-1220L to cut some of the cost and it would have worked perfectly fine for the application. Even a mobile processor probably would be OK. though I think it still wouldn't be a great deal.

I've thought about building my own server in roughly that form factor. I've seen other similar SFF servers at Microcenter (WD I think, didn't pay too much attention to them due to price). But, they all seem to be rather expensive for what you get. Still, a decent setup there if the price was more favorable.

yeah, this thing doesn't make much sense. If you need that much power, you can buy a cheap dell server for the same money that is a lot more expandable. If you just need a small convenient storage box, you can probably get by with the HP. If you need small and somewhat powerful, get the fujitsu, all for a lot less money.

Strip out the drives and memory (I can add my own, so I don't need to throw theirs away), and drop the cpu to the cheapest E3, and sell it for 300-400, I might be interested.

Doesn't say anything about ECC memory. Anyone know? Seems like a really slick box, if quite overpriced.

Throw a couple 1 gig hard drives in there and SBS and suddenly you're up to $325 more
Like I said, if they could come off with some realistic pricing I might give it a shot. There are just too many better alternatives out there for that kind of money

The thing supports ECC for sure, and Intel doesn't offer cheap low power CPUs supporting ECC.

You mean 1TB drives right? :D
Actually it looks like the only difference between the AC100 and the AC100S is the inclusion of Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, i.e. You're paying $325 extra for just the OS.

I wonder why Acer went with the E3-1260. Perhaps for the hyperthreading? But they could've used a E3-1240 (that has HT right?).
