A friend of mine recently purchased a bunch of computer stuff:
Abit NI8 SLI, Pentium D930, 1 GB Corsair XMS RAM, 2 Seagate 160 GB SATA Harddrives, 580W power supply
I helped him get it all put together, and made a slipstreamed Windows XP SP2 CD with the raid drivers on there. I'm pretty sure we configured everything in the bios and raid tool right to make it do RAID0, but now when we try and install Windows on it, two hard drives show up (and they appear to have the same bus, id, etc.) when we were only expecting 1 big one. I went through many other possible bios configurations but every time the same thing happened, twice as many drives as we were expecting. Any suggestions on what we might be doing wrong?
Also, this seemed like an unrelated problem, but I suppose it might not be so I'll include it too. When we attempted to install Windows to just 1 of the hard drives in a non raid setup, the computer would randomly turn off during the copying files segment of the installation. It powered down on separate attempts anywhere between 1% and 24%, so it'd be nice to figure out what the deal with that is if anyone has an idea what it could be.
I know this might seem out of place in this subforum, but there's no everything piece of hardware in the computer is conspiring to frustrate me, Motherboards seemed like the next best thing.
