Edit: After some thought, the budget for this machine is more like $600-$700 shipped (and I have Amazon Prime, for anything that's shipped from Amazon)

It's been about 7 years since I last built a computer, and the bug has returned. In the meantime, I've been mostly on my old PC (now dead) or Macs (nice but crap for gaming). Time to rectify the situation.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
I'd like this mainly for gaming, but I've been out of PC gaming for so long that I'm not sure what's out there. I play SC2 and I'd like to be able to play DNF because I've waited the decade+.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
I'd like to spend ~$500, but there's some flexibility.
3) Where do you live?
San Francisco, CA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, CPU, RAM, Mouse, Keyboard, Hard Drive, Power Supply, Motherboard, Graphics card, Optical drive (flexible), fans, heatsink, any building accessories (thermal paste, ... other things?)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I have a Dell 2001FWP from back in the day. I'd like to replace it with something in the 24'' range, but that can wait (and can be on top of the build budget). Still, I'd love recommendations.
6) Will you be overclocking?
I don't know. I guess not for now?
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Have 20'', would like to have 24''+ at some point in the future.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
When I have a parts list (now)
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
I have a RAID NAS, so I've not too concerned with storage in this build. Don't need firewire, SLI/Crossfire, sata 6Gb/s. Might want USB 3.0. I would like eSata if possible.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I have a legal copy of Win7, x64 maybe? Might be 32.

I've been looking at cases a bit and like the Corsair 650, but really I've flexible.

My last build specs are in my sig. It's really been a while.

Don't have time right now to put together a full build list but one quick word of advice: Buy as many of your parts as possible from Amazon.com since they do not charge tax to CA residents.

After some thought, I've bumped the budget for this build up to ~$600-$700. May as well get a little extra kick.
