Just installed the xonar dx into my asus p5q deluxe mobo, installed drivers etc and all seemed good till I did the speaker test and found the left speaker sound was coming from the centre speaker and the sub out of the right speaker and vice versa.

I checked all the cables were in correct and checked online on the Asus Xonar forum and found others with the same problem but no solution.

I have installed the latest firmware and drivers and currently am at a loss.

Just thought i'd check on here and see if anyone else has encountered it and solved it, otherwise I will have to sell or return.. :(

Hope you can help...Cheers..

Have you tried contacting tech support at asus? I have no problems with mine, but I'm running it in stereo, not surround so I can't really help you there.

You have them connected wrong, I am 99% sure. This is a very, VERY common mistake even the best of us makes, me included.

First of all, I have no idea what kind of speakers you are connecting this sound card to, but for the purpose of this explanation, I'm going to assume they're regular Pc speakers, something like a Z-5500.
Make sure the cable is pushed in all the way. Each 3.5mm cable has 2 little lines in the tip of the connector, and if you don't push them in all the way, the little lines in the tip are not gonna match the ones inside the sound card, and this will cause to send sound in the wrong speaker.
If that doesn't work, try to unplug the cables in your sound card and in your speakers. Connect each one individually, test, and if it sound right, move on to the next connector. Center and Subwoofer go together, Left and Right go together, and Rear Left and Rear Right go together.

I'm almost certain is the cables connected wrong because I've made this mistake 2 times already with my Z-5500 and X-fi sound card, every time I move to a new house. Let alone the many times I've answered this very same question in the past.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

PS: If you don't believe this is common, check THIS. There I answer this very same question.
