Looks like 360 is winning.

Look man, I love the Xbox 360 just as much as the next person, but the two don't even accomplish the same tasks, so how can you compare them head on?

It would be like comparing a Ford Lightening to an standard V6 work truck. Sure, they both are similiar, but they do two totally different things as their primary function.

Looks like a crappy, tremendously biased comparison. Where are the full-sized screenies? Where are the full PC specs?!

lol @ the comparison from a ps2/xbox/gc port on the pc vs a updated 360 version.

lol ..reading some of the responses in the article .. whining about the processor speed and other pc specs that might not be what the actual specs are or could cause bottlenecks or .. or ..or ..

I run a higher end pc and probably wont ever get a 360 and anybodys response to that should be a forward motioned shoulder shrug accompanied by , ".umm....so .."

my sentiments exaclty

now if were to want to jump on the "My PC can beat up your 360!" debate/argument/whatever ... I don't think I would want those guys that were posting in that article to be lobby'ing for me.
:)

They arent beating my PC that's for sure.

I have been watching Ebay and the forums but I have not seen the mass exodus from the PC's. Why is this? Why would anyone still own a PC AFTER they bought and Xbox 360? Hmmm......

i dont see the article as a personal attack so there is no reason to be defensive

The point is that a 360 stacks up well against a $2000 (or more) gaming PC. I don't know if he was trying to make the point that it's better...just that if a person was looking to get a graphically impressive gaming experience you're getting more for your money w/ the 360. Not that you're getting more...just more for the money.

Imagine a $400 Gaming PC....yeah....right. The 360 is the closest thing to a gaming PC other than a $1500+ rig.

I definitely agree with you there. You'll pay alot more for a top-end PC but a PC can do an infinite number of things the Xbox 360 cannot. I've gotten into high-end notebooks here lately and even though i'll probably pay a little more for them on average then a desktop i would still rather have one because of the mobility and the limited space required. I would still like to have an Xbox 360 and i may end up buying one (probably not though) but the games for are limited and its uses are very limited so i'm just not sure i would throw down $400+ to get one.

He prefered the Xbox controller over a keyboard and mouse? What a joke. How could anyone even take the article seriously after that. The story must have been bought and paid for by Microsoft.

I prefer the X360 controller over keyboard and mouse. Am I bought and paid for by Microsoft?

Theres no reason the xbox 360 should look better than anything on a high end pc. The only reason developers are holding back on the pc is because there are people that cannot afford high end stuff, yet still want to play the games.

I love the s-controller on xbox1 and the new X360 wireless one as well as a good mouse.

I dont mind using a mouse or a controler. They are great for some games, but each has advantages. People should stop complaining about which is better. They should just shut up and use both how they like.

Devs for consoles don't have to develop their games as generically as PC devs do, it's much easier to code for one set of hardware instead of limitless sets.

Well my PC doesn't have a temp problem with t ePSU so my PC beats the Xbox-360

From the article:

About half of the game’s levels are in the form of a first-person shooter. Incredible precision is rarely required and so using triggers and thumbsticks felt more natural than WASD plus mouse.

ROFL...

Well if he never gamed on a PC before, he might perfer a gamepad. I know in my experance with the Xbox and PC, is that I perfer the keyboard and mouse setup in FPS, just because thats what I've been using for the past 10+ years to control the game. I've played Halo2 and Ghost Recon2 on the Xbox and still enjoyed them with the gamepad, but theres been moments I wish I had a mouse instead ;)

It boils down to someone preference...not if gamepad is better then a keyboard/mouse combo

Xbox360 fan.boy: "OMG my $400 Xbox360 beats your $2000 PC! Xbox for teh win!!!1"

PC fan.boy: "Noobie fag, my PC does infinitely more than your Xbox for only 5 times the price! Pwnage!!11"

I don't see why this comes up so much without another possibility ever being mentioned. What about buying the Xbox360 to get $2k PC visuals and getting a $600 PC to give that infinite functionality? You come out ahead in price, and still get the same functionality.

oh man... why did they choose king kong... who freaking care about king kong ? its a Console developped game... not a native PC develop game... it was meant for the xbox360 , not the pc... the pc king kong is just a bad port...

make that comparison with Half life 2 , battlefield 2 ... or even call of duty 2...not king kong....

what a bad website

Bold = exactly what I was showing. Im not saying its better/worse but it can hold its own graphically. To me the 360 shots look better, but thats just me.

A glaringly obvious omission of cross-plartform titles is Quake 4. And it seems they used the non-gamer edition of king-kong for PC. These would have benefited the conclusion quite well, and for different reasons.

The tale would read as follows:

CoD2 - Winner: Depends. Keyboard and mouse are hard to beat. Multiplayer for PC is robust enough that you may still be playing it when the SP is all but a long ago memory. Controller jockeys might not mind losing the mouse, and people whose PC's Video card are as little as a year or two old might migrate towards the xbox version. I think guys like myself with a GTX, 2Gb of ram, etc... scoff at the idea of eight players for MP.

King Kong: Clear winner: Xbox360. Gamer's edition for PC might come close to the same look but it runs like dog meat. Sometimes jerks so bad you are spun around, don't even know what direction you are looking anymore.

Quake4: Clear winner: PC. Xbox360 fans might be facing similar situation as CoD2 if it were coded well. No hope of keeping up with the mod potential of PC, which hurts multiplayer. If the port were properly coded, it might be worth it for those without titanium PC's to forgo some MP capabilities for a smoother running cheaper box.

Conclusion: It's a tough call to pit them against each other. Kind of hard to dismiss the kind of value you get from an xbox 360. Some people, imagine this, wife might give them a hard time for having a $2k gaming rig. IMO, those with high end PCs, despite the fan fare of gaming sites for the xbox360 version of CoD2, it seems the FPS king lives another day. Especially for those that do have heavy hitting PCs and enjoy MP. And drumroll.... the biggest problem with trying to compare the two, is when you belong to the market that was an afterthought during the games creation, it shows in a big way.Q4 and King Kong slap you in the face with this fact. CoD2 wasn't even free from this, PC version wins for guys like myself IN SPITE of the fact it probably could have been better optimized.

heh, i wouldn't buy an xbox if it came with a dvd of your mom getting tag-teamed by 2 live crew.

at least this quote gave me a good chuckle

This article is easily one of my top 10 stupidest and most pointless articles ever.

We don't allow discussion of PC vs console. Mainly because it always turns into a flame war. Each system has its own merits, as well as negative traits.
