So my heatsink on my Althon 64 3200 plus is going out
well the Fan is dieing
so i am going to buy a new one
whats the best one for a socket 754 one?

Thermalright XP-90c or Thermalright XP-120 That would be your best bet IMO...My I just installed one of the XP-90c for my buddy who is running a 3000+ Venice OCed to 2.2Ghz and it droped idle temps from 40-41c to 36-37c I'm not quite sure what his full load temps are....But these are really good heatsinks and pretty much half the people on the [H] would agree.....

Be careful with the XP-120 as it doesn't fit all motherboards (it's huge) but other than that they are great heatsinks.

How long have you had your processor? It's kinda suprising that it died. You might be able to get away with just getting a new fan for it.

i have had the pc for about 8 months now
i ordered the cpu OEM so i got the heatsink/fan seprate
the one i got is a thermatake Polo 3 in 1
my mobo is a Abit KV8 Pro
Tsunami Dream Tower Case if thats at all

I was thinking about this one
link
really dident want to spent more than 60-70 for a heatsink/fan setup

Thermaltake makes a business of ripping off other companies...the good heatsink is by Thermalright not Thermaltake. :p

Just the normal XP-90.

Agreed. XP-90c is for pure bling factor. Every review I've seen gives it a 1 degree advantage at most over the XP-90.

I've had pretty good luck with thermaltake in the past, especially when i slap an 90mm 83CFM delta screamer to it

I might just replace the fan on it.
I just cleaned the fan on the heatsink of my old Celeron 667 MHz that had a stock CoolMaster on it. It was packed with dust. So, I'm wondering out of sheer curiosity, is it better to buy a large heatsink? I mean the Spire Whisper Rock IV I have on my Duron 1.8 GHz is so large, I doubt dust would accumulate in it.

Gotta love ebay, got a Brand new Sonic Tower for 20$ still all in package and dated

Your never going to see a large difference between the XP90, XP90C, or XP120. The plain XP90 is incredible, your best bang for the buck.

Speaking of people ripping others off...Newegg has that XP-90c for $63  . I got my XP-90 (non-c) with a fan for $30 shipped :).

just oreded the xp-90 with fan and artic silver 5, cant wait for it to get here and see how she cools
:D
