25% off Pny

how is pny? I think im going to buy the 6600gt agp for my second computer, if pny turns out to be ok....

I was going to get it but when you add tax and shipping it exceeds 200$. Are there any coupon codes I can stack with this?

Damnit! I just went out and bought a BFG 6600gt for $250 on thursday...Does anyone know if PNY is any good?

ruffly 202 for all should be plus tax+shipping cost. so its still a great deal for the agp ver of it.

PNY is "okay" in my book. They are one of NVidia's largest partners. Their stuff should be reference design. Their software bundles suck, and they don't deviate from reference designs.

Good (in my mind) they're going to have more cards on the market
mediocre (not bad) its going to be vanilla design with no custom cooling or nice software bundles.

Basically, they should do what is advertized. I dont have a problem with them, but their "Lifetime warranty" is misleading:
Its only "Lifetime" as long as they keep making the card. Sooo that GF3 I bought 3 years ago which went south, I cant get it replaced.... :D

I have been looking for a picture of the card itself. I wanna see what heating it has, anyone have any opinions on it? Also, should I wait for a 6800nu and unlock it, or just upgrade to this for now. (Currently I am using a 5700 ultra)

should i upgade to this from 9800pro?

to what? A 6600GT is mostly faster than a 9800pro but I like a little more boost from an upgrade. Get a 6800GT and then you're talking.

looks like they are trying to clear crap inventory.
exactly. so much that the sale started even before the product had arrived on store shelves.

Quit whining - it's a good card at a fair price considering other 6600 GT AGP versions for the money - as I said before, no artifacting, overclocks well.

lol... whining? i made a statement... and that is, more or less that bestbuy is doing. perhaps the are using at 6600 as the proverbial carrot.

aside from that, its my opinion that the 6600GT sucks ass. if it isnt yours... thats okay! :)

furthermore.. i really could not care any less about it... it was an idle thought. :D

I got a 6800gt from CompUSA on Thanksgiving Day. Here is my horror story.

Put it in the first time, works fine. Takes it out because a buddy want to see the card. Put it back in, and turn on my box, I smell something horrendous and then turn off my machine. Pull out the card to find the first contact point on the AGP bus fried to a crisp. First thing I am worried about is that my mobo is gone. Put in my old card and it works fine.

Here is the horror. PNY warranty and tech support is the worse ever and beats out the 2nd worse by a huge gap. Fill out a form online and I get sent confirmation that they will accept the RMA and also included half ass shipping instructions. I sent it on December 3rd, I didnt get it back until January 11th. Over a month later. Their phone support is a cluster fuck off automated lines that send you every which way and once I would get into the queue for RMA status it tells me there is longer than a 20 minutes wait and doesnt allow me to hold. Just sends me to their voicemail.

I leave a message wanting my status a couple weeks later and nothing. Fill out status request online, nothing. Finally I get though on the phone, a month later for them to tell me that is got shipped, said they would email me a shipping #, they didnt. Luckily it showed it up one day.

Next point, it was under 90 days which means RMA = brand new product returned. Alas I sent mine within 90 days of purchase and I got a refurb job. And I decided to just say f it and bite the bullett and deal with the refurb because I want my 6800 now rather than in another month. And I will deal with a refurb.

How the hell did you get a free Beta version of 64 bit windows? I got zilch when I purchased my mobo... Oh and where the hell did you get those heat spreaders?

PNY has a good rep, haven't heard much bad about 'em. I think they make ram too.

# 1 learn how to put a card in an AGP slot properly and you might not have that problem!

# 2 tell your friend.... "look with your eyes... not your hands." (you didnt have to take it out to show him!)

# 3 "if it aint broke... dont fix it".... (leave it alone, it was working fine, why take it out & play with it.... coulda been static... etc.. = BAD IDEA to take it out to play with it)

# 4 goldfish belong in the bowl... not your hand... same goes for computer parts... belong in the case.... not your hand! :)

well i'm gonna upgrade my 9600 pro with this. hopefully i don't have to reactivate windows again...sigh

Hmmmm, should I sell my eVGA 5900XT and buy the PNY?

Uhmm... I don't know if you or the Gentleman with the 9800 Pro should buy this. I mean unless you're a [H]ardcore Gamer on a budget, that just needs a few extra features and a little speed that your cards don't have. Heh - you probably paid more for those cards. It is a nice card, though.

You sure you got a 6800 GT at Thanksgiving? I got the 6800 STD on the AFTER Thanksgiving sale for $200 after rebate. Got the rebate before Christmas and the card's been fine.

Not bad, both the AGP and PCI-E 6600GT PNY cards from best buy are dual DVI. Both are same price of $187.49 which is pretty good for the AGP flavor they are usually more expensive. They only show online stock in the PCI-E flavor but I'd imagine the store stock might have some.

1 thing to say about PNY is there rebates. there one of the companies that i NEVER have problems with regardin rebates.
