16:10 problem in Q4

So i just got a new NEC ws lcd monitor and when i try to play q4 in the native 16:10 1650x1080 res. i get some nasty white bars flickering on the screen. If i switch to a 16:9 res like 1200x768 it works fine. Any suggestions?

Well one of the tweak settings is different for 16:9 vrs. 16:10. r_setamode = '-2' instead of -1 or something like that. I can give you my commands when I get home.
 
Well first off, 1650 / 1080 != 1.6, so your resolution isnt 16:10. As for setting resolution, refresh rates, etc.

seta r_customHeight "800"
seta r_customWidth "1280"
seta r_displayRefresh "100"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "2"

Notice my resolution 1280/800 = 1.6

I also like to keep my resolution and refresh rate the same for my desktop / game to prevent my widescreen crt from having to change resolutions all the time with that crt click we all know and love.
 
He probably meant 1680x1050
I don't know what the problem may be, but I was able to play at that 1680x1050 without needing to hack or tweak any files.
 
really ? damn i hate you. I just installed the latest cat 6.5 drivers hoping that this would fix it and it only got worse. Now i cant even play in any resolution. Its so wierd, my screen turns white for about 3 seconds then it flashes between white and the game really fast; flickering basically. Maybe i should do a uninstall/reinstall of q4? im so lazy :mad:
 
Yeah my "autoexec.cfg" is much like lord of shadows only 1920*1200, and I didn't know about the refresh. Sweet! I also don't use the fullscreen opt, but I imagine that's set default for most. Couldn't hurt if it works. I don't know if it's an ATi or driver thing, my rig is 6.5 betas and x1900CF. Of course, it's probably just a PC's can be a pain issue whereby all the pieces are having bad mojo in which case you can blame the drivers some. :D

I always reinstall and patch when in doubt. Can't be any easier to get your save games. Backup the "SaveGames" folder in q4base folder.
 
I GOT IT !
I reinstalled q4 along with the latest patch. Now ALL resolutions work. Thanks for the help.
