We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

I have a gigabit switch on my internal network and sometimes I bring a laptop from work, which uses VPN to connect to work. However I see my VPN connection dropping from time time, so I'm wondering if my setup is correct...

NOW:

cable modem --> router (WRT54GL w/Tomato) --> Dlink gigabit Switch --> Main PC / Wii / Media Streamer / HTPC / laptop from work

should I change this to?:

cable modem --> router --> laptop from work (VPN)
...................................--> switch --> Main PC / Wii / Media Streamer / HTPC

Please advise.

Thanks :D

you mean connecting your laptop directly to the router instead of through the switch?

will make 0 bit of difference... what type of VPN do you use to connect to work?

thank you ;)

laptop uses Contivity VPN client (nortel), however I think I found the problem... I wasn't properly logged in into VPN session. I don't know how it worked in the first place. To my excuse, this laptop is being shared between team members... Still it was problem between keyboard and chair... :eek:

One of the most famous lines we use. But hey, you figured it out, which puts you over the crowd. If that was not the case I would of said to look into that switch if it was starting to go...
