Anyone heard anything about this? Is it scrapped, or being worked on?

I'm totally fine with waiting more for a top-notch remaster. This was the last update that came from Aspyr:

I'd already passed on this because from the trailer it looked like low-effort possibly AI-assisted crap. Looked like a mod that should be free. Especially since something like Deus Ex: Revision already exists. What's the point?I'm totally fine with waiting more for a top-notch remaster.
Ah, I haven't watched the trailer since too often its alpha footage before the gold release. I'll entirely pass if its AI slop on release.I'd already passed on this because from the trailer it looked like low-effort possibly AI-assisted crap. Looked like a mod that should be free.
But if they're going to take the feedback seriously, then have at it.

Hopefully they actually do a good job. I don't think they used AI, but maybe they did. If they keep any of what they did in the game I'm not interested.
From what I can tell they didn't actually make any upgrades to the engine at all. It uses Unreal Engine 1. They essentially just created a high polygon model / high resolution texture pack. But it has to run on Unreal Engine 1. So there are extreme limits to what they can do.
There is no point to doing a "remaster" like that. Fans have already done it 20 years ago.
I mean, given that it was done in UE, I wonder if it would simply be easier to port it to a newer version. While I know that it isn't a drop-in upgrade it is my understanding that it isn't like starting from scratch to port to newer versions. I know Satisfactory did it, they started on UE4 and then upgraded to UE5.The best thing to do would be to use a modern engine overlay like Oblivion Remastered, it essentially acts like RTX Remix where it can intercept memory and swap old assets, code, inputs etc, for newer ones and essentially run the game 100% faithfully to the original.
