Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
So I seem to have struck a nerve with a few of you, and perhaps I should have explained myself better from the beginning. So here's the deal, I have a sealed in the box copy of Vista, my plan was to run Win 7, accepting the risk that goes with running a beta OS. If Windows 7 didn't work...
Paying for it isn't the issue, I just wanted to know if at some point I will be FORCED to go back to a previous version or if I will be able to continue with some form of Win7 until the retail version is available to purchase.
I was hoping to draw on peoples past experiences with MS and...
According to the MS website Windows 7 will stop working on Aug 1 2009, but it also makes it sound like they might make an extension to the time so that we could continue using the beta.
Will there be another release?
In the past with MS beta's have they allowed people to use the beta until...
OK so I'm going to swap out the case for one from a manufacturer that is well known (we chose that one because it seemed good on paper and my wife and I thought it had a nice look.
As for the video card, are all of the 4870's loud or are there some that are better?
So here is my new build, tell me what you think. I started with http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1388074 and I think I ended up with a pretty good build that is actually a little cheaper than the first and overall should perform better.
So here's the parts list...
So here it is, if I left out any important details I'm sure you guys will find it and ask :)
1) What will you be doing with this PC?
All the general stuff like web surfing, email, MS office etc. But the main focus will be on Photohop, a little bit with Premier, and some web dev. But...
I am looking at putting together a NAS unit for my home network, and on Newegg I can get 640GB Seagates for the same price as the 500GB drives, all specs seem to be the same, so there isn't any reason to get the smaller drives as far as I can tell.
Here's the problem, in the specs for the...
I can buy it for $65 but my question is, how much of a difference would a 256MB 256bit card make in my old system? It's a 1.4 athlon 512mb system, I just want to be able to play some of the older games and my GF2pro just barely gets the job done.
I don't want a bleeding edge system, I don't...
OK, thanks for all the input everyone. You're all right in your estimations that I don't need huge throughput but I can't see any reason to not buy a gigabit card if I need to buy a NIC anyway.
I appreciate all the input, looks like the 3com and Intel cards are tops. Thank you all.
I need to purchase a new NIC for my server, i'd like it to be gigabit capable. Under $40 would be prefered, it's only a small home network, but I'd like it to be a decent card because I'm tired of this old Linksys crapping out at random times, it's so old that Linksys says it won't work with...
I went plasma because all the LCD's I've seen have terrible artifacting anytime there's very much movement on the screen, looks like the FMV from a lot of the old playstation era games.
If it has to be something you can buy at BB then I'd say the Panasonic, but I personally ended up buying...
Rather than get a convertor plug, just get a switch box, they're cheap and will allow you full image quality from both sources. Most of the switch boxes I've seen are KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) setups but nothing says you have to use all three.
