There is a reservoir in the back and there is a aluminum tubing that winds up and down towards the front, where it has the LED and the flow meter then winds back to the rear where it exits the reserator. if want more details let me know i shall try and take pictures.
Zalman VGA blocks are aluminum as you said, but their CPU waterblocks are gold plated copper, not aluminum. i had reserator 1 (the original) and i did not have a problem with corrosion. I ran it 24/7 for about a year before i switched out.
