    Network adapter not doing anything

The desktop eventually decides on an IP automatically, but the notebook still doesn't do anything.

    Network adapter not doing anything

Can't uninstall the IPv6 protocol in Vista, and disabling it does nothing.

    Network adapter not doing anything

I can't get my Vista notebook's ethernet adapter to work any more. It seems to be functional, but it just won't... do anything. Device Manager says it's working properly and it correctly senses whether a cable's connected or not, but it still won't connect to anything. I have tried...

A few questions about longterm battery life.

Don't do this. Lithium batteries should not be full cycled; they do not suffer from the memory effect, and completely discharging a lithium battery will shorten its lifespan. Unless the battery is getting excessively warm, there really isn't any reason to be concerned. High temperatures...

Imaging software with Tablet PC support

Oh, hey! I forgot all about this thread. Thanks! This is just what I was looking for. I think the three biggest advantages the Cintiq has over a Tablet PC are the large screen, angle recognition, and support for a variety of styli. Whether or not that justifies the price is debatable...

Cleaning the felt cushions on headphones

I have used isopropyl alcohol to clean the felt earpads on my DT-250s with no adverse effects. Water works too, but it's not as effective. All you need to do is dampen a paper towel with whatever cleaner you choose to use and wipe the earpads.

x-fi elite pro vs. chaintech av-710 and ESI Juli@ for music

I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic and 0404 in the same machine using the same configuration as previously stated (X-Fi digital out to 0404 digital in, 0404 analog out to headphone amp) and everything works fine. I was a little surprised, too, since I was expecting driver problems. I installed the...

Any problems with using onboard for sound recording (Mic) and Xi-fi for listening?

The only problem that you may have is enabling the onboard audio with the X-Fi installed. On my Asus P4P800, the onboard audio is automatically disabled when a sound card is installed. Other than that, everything should work fine. Just set the playback device to the X-Fi and the recording...

Counter-Strike Source is out of control

I think the dynamic weapon pricing is awesome. Counter-Strike is a bit boring because so many people play exclusively with an M4/AK-47 and Desert Eagle. Hopefully the new pricing system will force people to use a little more variety. The price increase on armor is also going to make things...

Imaging software with Tablet PC support

I'm looking for image editing software that supports the tablet functionality on my Tablet PC. I've tried a few programs already, including a few distributions of GIMP, Inkscape, and an older non-Corel version of Paint Shop Pro, but none of them have full Tablet PC support. Without native...

    Game Soundtracks

If you're looking for soundtracks from Japanese games, you're in luck: many Japanese games have soundtrack releases. I would recommend CDJapan for anything that's still in print. They only sell new, legitimate releases, and the prices are as cheap as you'll find them anywhere; international...

    MMOs are Good for you.

Playing video games? Man, you losers need to get a life. Instead of sitting alone in your basement, you should do something productive, like going outside, finding people who choose to live their lives differently than you, and belittling them.

Creative X-Fi and Emu 0404: Conflicts

I just recently installed an X-Fi XM and 0404 and I have the same problem. The system doesn't actually hang; it just takes a long time (>1min) to shut down. From what I've read, it has something to do with the X-Fi headphone sensing driver, and there isn't anything that can be done about it...

    Major Oblivion bug

If your stats are red, and you don't have any diseases, then they've been damaged. Some enemies (Wisps, for example) permanently damage your statistics when they attack you. You can restore damaged statistics by either praying at a chapel or using an appropriate Restore Attribute potion.

    Soul Trap broken?

Soul gems will only hold one soul. Once you trap a soul in a soul gem, you can't trap any more into that gem. When you trap a soul, it goes into the smallest empty soul gem of sufficient capacity in your inventory. Regular soul gems can hold the souls of animals and monsters, but not humans...
