    Well I've disconnected the CPU cooler which was a Pro 7 Cooler.. Looks like the holders that secure it onto the motherboard were all broken so I'll have to buy a new one. Just hope that this is the problem.

    Update is that neither RAM show any errors in memtest but the PC doesn't run long enough to do any more than 2 tests. Still shutting down at random times.

    Foxconn make the output ports etc. for GIGABYTE motherboards. giga make the important things like capacitors etc, hence why the boards are a lot better. summary; foxconn are child's play in the recent market, although their older boards are probably decent.

    try using stable drivers and see if it makes a difference? check all PSU connections etc. and yeah, your RAM idea is a good one to check for bad memory
