Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Anyone have any clue as to when they're coming out? I would assume that they're waiting until they can get USB 3 and/or SATA 6Gb/s on it. October? I'd like to pair one with a 920 but Intel is planning on discontinuing them so if I wait too long I've got a board without a chip...
Typo fixed, thanks! - Kyle
Now to be flooded with P55 mobo reviews over the next 30-45 days. I think thats why I'll be waiting until October to dive in - so the motherboard situation can settle down, and we know which ones deliver. I'd like to see that 6 memory slot Gigabyte board tested!
I have a Q9450, and there are basically 3 things I'm waiting for...
Overclocking ability of the 860 with all 4 DIMM slots full (4x2GB) - if only affordable 4GB sticks would come out sooner, I think they're supposed to be here around CES, fabbed at 40nm instead of 50nm and 1.35V instead of...
Debating between i7-920 and some 8x0 chip. Waiting for the reviews to hit.
Would like to have 12GB of RAM even if its unnecessary.
I wonder if the 6-slot Gigabyte boards will actually be able to accept six DIMMs (I read somewhere else the 4-slot channel can only take single sided sticks...
So for reasons I wont go into, I'm switching to AHCI (P35/ICH9).
In Windows XP I tried to follow these directions and it didn't work, I get a BSOD quickly on OS boot.
In windows 7 it tries to do that startup recovery thing but fails to fix it.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how...
Thanks for the suggestions guys. It looks like it was on its way out - now it wont get past the BIOS, regardless of what RAM I install. It just locks up at the memory test. I'm going to let it (and me) cool down overnight and try again tomorrow after work.
If I cant get it working tomorrow...
I wanted to try the USB drive, but I cant figure out how to get an ISO onto my USB drive from OSX. Copying the files directly didn't work. Thanks for the ideas guys. I'll let you know...
When trying to install Windows 7 from a burnt DVD (verified when it was burnt), the system will just hang at the "Starting Windows Setup" or whatever it is after it asks if you want to install windows or repair your system. It just sits there. I get the 3-sec interval HDD light, and no activity...
When I tried to go from 333->345 (2.66 to 2.76Ghz) the RAM was running at 1:1. Even below its 800MHz rating, it wouldn't OC. Its not a stability issue, its a cant get out of the BIOS, reboots at the same place every time whether I've OC'd 1% or 10%.
OK so I tried 6-6-6-18 and tried to OC it a little (FSB 333 -> 345). Nope still wont go. Gigabyte told me to go buy some Kingston RAM instead. Not too happy with that response. I may have to see if newegg will let me exchange them for a GB approved kind.
Its at 2V. I will try 6-6-6-18 this weekend. We'll see, I have a hard time returning RAM if it passes memtest. I dont think newegg will let me swap this for a different kind of RAM either (that might not have this problem with my mobo).
