    I tried different slots, and it doesn't help. I forgot to mention that if i use my brothers ram, which is off brand (it says samsung on the chips), it works fine. He has 2 256mb sticks of PC2700. We also tried my ram in his computer, and it does the same thing. I think its just a wierd ram...

    well, i uninstalled them in device manager, and re-booted. (i use XP pro) when i re-booted and i was in windows, messages popped up from the system tray icon area saying that new cd-roms were found. then i re-checked my computer and they werent there, so i checked the device manager again...
