My guess is they spent so much time on the models and animations i.e. making them look cool, they didn't have time or budget left for any interactivity.

Yeah, it could be better, but then again I was never inclined to go on random rampages in cp2077, so if that was somebody expected from the game, sure it will disappoint. Same could be said about Mafia.

Supposedly the team was about half the size of the one that made GTA IV. Add to that the difficulties of creating a dense urban environment for the first time, working with a new engine and shoehorning Keanu Reeves into the game in the last 18 months and you've got a recipe for disaster. To some degree its a miracle the game is as good as it is given how badly the game was mismanaged on the back end.

Yeah in that regard it has much in common with Mass Effect Andromeda.
 
I waited until last month to finally play CP and after 80 hrs invested it's probably tied for the best game I've ever played (tied with Bioshock Infinite, whose release generated its own lively discussion).

Maybe I'm a cold-hearted bastard, but I've never had any hint of an emotional reaction to an in-game interaction until this game...and it's happened twice up through most of Act 2. And I've played TW3, Skyrim, GTAV, RDR2, etc. There's plenty 'wrong' with this game (where 'wrong' is a stand-in for bugs, missing features, lack of interactivity with the environment, disappointing AI...the list goes on). But at the core of this game, they got something right. And if you strip away all of the marketing hype and play CP without any preconceived notions (that, admittedly, were largely a function of CDPR's own hype machine), there's something to be said for what this game offers.
 
I played through CP2077 once upon release and absolutely loved it (despite recognizing the major flaws). I never had any real bugs (other than floating items a few times) and the graphics are amazing on a 3080. I hope to see some real expansions for the game, it sucks so many people had issues with it that they basically ruined the reputation. It's been over a year, not sure if it's publicly salvageable now. Witcher 3 remains my all time favourite RPG.

That's because you played it on a 3080. It's slower PCs where it was a major problem, and it was essentially unplayable on consoles.

If you played it on a high end PC the bugs weren't much worse than what you see in other games. I played on a 3090 and also enjoyed it. I liked Skyrim and Oblivion more, but it I would definitely rank it pretty high.

It wasn't bad on a 1080, I even played it on a 970 briefly and other than the obvious IQ downgrade it was fine.

The problem was being unplayable on last gen consoles and thats it. If the game hadn't shipped on PS4 and Xbone, none of this would be an issue.

There have been a lot buggier launches over the last 18 months that haven't generated near the outrage because they at least 'ran' on consoles.

It does seem like the last gen (especially PS4) port was the number one issue from a PR perspective. I should've said I played the first 8 hours or so on my 1080 Ti (still a very high end card) and it played great without any real bugs.

shark - I rank the game highly as well, my personal gold standard is Witcher 3 and CP falls well short of that (unless they can produce a Blood & Wine quality of expansion/DLC) but I loved CP2077. Thinking about doing a second playthrough, it's either that or get Mass Effect remastered.
 
I was surprised when I started playing this again a few weeks ago and it still had major graphic \ animation glitches, even during scripted events.

The game is still a lot of fun, but I didn't expect it to still have issues like: Pull up to a main story event and your car door is invisible, your character gets out and uses invisible car door for cover as you watch things unfold. It's pretty emersion breaking. I also had a main story line car chase where vehicle sounds just didn't exist while in car. Car chases are a lot less fun in silence lol.
 
I would love them to do a <bullwinkle>: "This time for sure!", and nail all the little polish issues. Not Polish issues. Wait. What? Now I'm confused.

There's a good game there, and I personally didn't have any real bad bug experiences. Sometimes something a little weird happened, but never mattered for the actual gameplay. I recognize this is not universal of course.
 
Man cyberpunk was one of the few games my bro and I were excited about, a co-op cyberpunk rpg/fps..........Then we played it and realized how bad the co-op was with simple things like only player one can see the map markers/quest log and the way it saved games/characters felt like a 90s lan game. Also the very simple cookie cutter builds and gear really didn't do it any favors

Hopefully they are able to rework it somewhat as the setting was unique and well done but it really needed more time in the oven to be a good game.

So what is the state of the game for PC users? I was going to buy it but then when it launched reports were so bad I stayed clear of it entirely. Is it worth picking up now or wait for a Cyber Punk 2?

You've waited this long, I'd wait for the relaunch reviews and then decide. That is what I'm doing.

The PS5 and Series X native versions have yet to be released. When they are----that will effectively be a sort of re-launch. CDPR may not officially push it like that. But games media will. And undoubtedly whatever tweaks or improvements or additions come with those new versions, will be folded into the PC version.

And whenver the DLC finally releases----it means CDPR is happy enough with the game, to stray from completely focusing on fixing/improving the base game. And that itself will probably spark a feeling that "now is the time to finally dig into Cyberpunk", etc.
 
At this point to expect anything out of CPDR is just fooling yourself. Game is fine to be played once on PC if you have a decent rig and shelved. You will get a good decent 30-40 hours out of it but that’s about it.

This is no Witcher.

Each to their own, but I preferred Cyberpunk over Witcher 2 and 3.
 
I prefer Witcher games. However, for me Cyberpunk was a good 8-9/10 game. However, the state of the game at release and even now is nothing like what was supposed to be delivered so overall very disappointing.

If you take out the expectations, as I mentioned earlier, game is fine for a one time run through.

I'm still holding out hope for an Enhanced Edition...CDPR has shown that they will continue to tweak their games to deliver the best possible experience...even Witcher 3 (which is 15 years old) is getting an RTX update in 2022

I seldom replay games, especially long ones. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those I'd consider replaying again personally. Not anytime soon though.

Agree with this. I was massively hyped for the game and while it was a letdown from the hype, it was still fantastic (played on PC with RTX 3080). Very enjoyable mainquest and sidequest plotlines. I didn't bother with random encounters/task type quests and I had an awesome time playing it through once: 76 hours. I'll do another playthrough at some point.

Witcher 3 I have over 200h into for perspective.

Don't take this personally, I just quoted you as you are the most recent one stating this, but CDPR had already stated that the main game was made shorter as many players found the witcher 3 too long. Now if like me you found the witcher 3 great and wanted a similar game lenght wise, that's dissapointing, I would have loved a longer story or some more quality side missions and less of those "things to do" of which you get 2 dozen every time you drive trough a new area on the map nut this is how they made the game. On the other hand it does make it more apealing to play trough it again as it wont take another 100+ hours, if there is enough of different choices and outcomes available to make it worthwhile.

I have seen a lot of AAA games that offer only a tiny amount of game in comparison to this one.

As a counterpoint to the bolded part I found TW3 to be more replayable because it was so long and had enough complexity to the story that I had forgotten much more if it than I normally would have when I played it a second time. I was hoping they'd repeat that with this game but they made it clear well before release that it wasn't going to be that length and it's not really fair to hold them to a standard that only one game ever met even if it was their last major game.
 
Is another one of those things where i have to have the ps4 and ps5 versions both installed to play it? Really pushing those SSD's now.

Can you put the disc in or something, the lady was confusing on the twitch stream. She said if you had the ps4 version installed, then you could go to your game library and download the ps5 version.

EDIT: According to this comment thread on Reddit both the base PS4 game and PS5 upgrade needs installing. I thought they would exist as separate installs like other games. With the disc in the drive, highlight the game icon, press down, and the upgrade icon should be on the right. You can also press the Option button on the controller to choose a version. The base game + upgrade = 100GB.

The way the PS5 handles disc games is incredibly stupid. For any PS4 game it will always install the PS4 version automatically, even if there is a PS5 version installed. I know MS patented smart delivery so Sony can’t do that, but there are definitely better ways to handle this. It really feels like discs were an afterthought with the PS5.

I know, but i'm old and like discs lol. I mainly buy them to play the game, and resell on ebay since i rarely ever play a game twice. Been sitting on this cyberpunk disc since launch day. Something tells me the resell value won't be very good.
