finally we have a thinker, w/ the backing of Lexar . But this is ingenious design. To have a display screen on a dock. Why didn't none of us come up w/ this all these decades?

this design even have an embedded NVMe drive slot, so you can backup your data to that drive.

Why is this so revolutionary? What's the point?

What's next putting a TFT screen on a hdmi cable?

I mean a dock has already has displays attached to it, that's the point of having it in the first place, putting a micro screen on it seems kinda redundant.

but in that video, they said if 1 of the chnl. is stuck, the display shows what chnl. is stuck. In the past, the dock that I use, there is no LCD display to show you anything. And where are you seeing "dock has display attached to it", where are these dock? A Kensington SD5000T5 for comparison, also a Thunderbolt 5 dock, has no display.

IDK what that even means. What is a channel on a dock, and why would it be stuck?

I meant if someone uses a dock for their laptop it presumably already has at least one monitor connected to it on the desk.

you have to watch that video, as the video can explain better. To me, all the dock / station that we have in the past, should be called dummy dock. It's like some of the cheap laser printer that we use, there is no LCD display, just a light blinking, what does that blinking light means? w/ a good laser printer, there is 2 line of LCd display to explain to you if there is error. LIkewise, w/ a dock /station, if there is a screen, it can tell you if there were an error, and what the error is.

w/ this dock that c/w LCD display, all the other brands could easily follow suit

Is that a common issue? A dock just works, it's not some fickle thing that has to be constantly babysitted and monitored. If it is that's a whole other problem.
This is a solution for what shouldn't be a problem in the first place. I can't believe so many backers fell for it. Or is it an apple thing? I only used PC docks, never even crossed my mind that the dock needs a screen to monitor the connections.

This is another modern product that the makers scream to me I must have it, but for the life of me I can't find one single reason I should.

I have USB/Thunderbolt docks already that have no screen and they just work already.

Plus its on KickStarter so expect a clone half the price on Amazon within a month...

that's an excellent pt. That is exactly what I'm waiting for: a clone version at aliexpress, but thanks for reminding me. Having said that, Lexar is a chinese co., so they are used to it
