The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

Ya well, that's why I ignore all the DLSS 5 hate going around because it is dumbasses and/or bad faith actors doing it. I'll try it myself. In fact I have and so far I'm impressed. It looks GREAT in Hitman 3, but not dialed all the way up.

The unimpressive part is, of course, the performance. 8ms of render time is a heavy cost to pay.

Yep. I've seen some impressive user screenshots, but not from youtube sensationalism channels, rather on actual forums with it in moderation.

It also doesn't come through fully with screenshots or compressed video. Like path tracing, you really need to see it in action to appreciate it fully. That said, it has limits. One of the main ones is that it is biased towards realistic lighting. nVidia themselves say that in the developer docs and that it may not work well for stylized media. I can see that in Satisfactory. It might look good with more playing with it but by default, it is very much a side-grade. There are some things that look cool, like better lighting in shadowed areas, but other things look dull and have lost some of the game's style. Maybe it could be tuned in there to look nice, but I feel like you'd never get it to be worth the FPS hit. Hitman 3 is the opposite, because of its realistic focus it really looks quite good out of the box with the defaults (most of the sliders in the middle). I'm sure with tuning it could look even better and heck I might just try playing with it on. It costs a ton, but the game isn't fast paced, so a lower base FPS is more tolerable and it really does kick the realism of the environments up quite a bit over what the engine is doing normally.

Yikes. I watched a video of this and his face looked different in each scene. They need some kind of static seed value system for face details. This static shot looks good, but i think the remaster does look better personally. It is missing some of the micro shadowing shown here on his outfit tho (DLSS 5 does a good job with this). DLSS 5 will be useful but the mod version is pretty mixed imo.
Could you link me the video.

My only issue with DLSS5 is it seems to add nasolabial folds to faces that don't have them, or make ones that are there 10x more pronounced, which makes the character look much older. I'm sure this can be adjusted, but still. Does it take nasolabial folds to make a face look "realistic," was that the takeaway from the model training?

I'm shocked just released new tech for a single game is showing some issues in every other game it's being hacked into. Shocked I said!
Yep! It's almost like hacking it into a full scene at max strength doesn't show it well! Brand new tech is always perfect!
