They should bring back lan party. 14 year old me loved the "cool" look back in the day rocking a lanparty nf something. In hindsight it probably wasn't the best choice for a frist build but I definitely learned a lot about OCing.

My friend had an nForce 2 board from them:
Back in 2004 I helped a friend build a secondary PC that was built around a DFI LANParty nForce 2 Ultra B motherboard (his primary PC was an Alienware with nForce 3 and Athlon FX-51 and SATA-1 RAID 0). These are the only pics I found:

And I had an nForce 4 board:
In 2006 I built myself a new PC with a DFI LANParty nForce 4 Ultra-D. I ran an overclocked Opteron 165 on this board. That CPU was my first 64-bit CPU, my first dual-core CPU, and the first CPU I ever overclocked. Using the stock cooler I was able to go from 1.8 GHz to 2.4 GHz (I was afraid to go higher cuz I didn't wanna fuck with the voltages), and two of my friends (one of which who was using the same motherboard) got to 2.7 GHz. This motherboard was my first board with PCI-Express. The northbridge cooler died within a year and I replaced it with an all-copper one.

They’ve been making boards forever. They stopped the consumer boards ages ago, but they’ve been very active in the oem industry
Despite their apparent popularity, I doubt they did well in the consumer market. For one thing, I saw a lot of their boards shit the bed while I was a PC technician. I'd wager they were buried in RMA's. They were quirky and inconsistent at best. And they exited the consumer industry, not something you do if your making money. That said, their last board I reviewed was an X58 board and it was fantastic. Ugly, but fantastic as I recall.

They also had different lines. The Lanparty line seems to have been significantly better than the cheap line with the differently colored boards (name escapes me right now). I had one of those cheaper boards, too, but I didn't like it much. My Lanparty I have to this day.

only thing is, only us old heads even know what a lan party even is. that and this is probably the worst time in the last 20 years to get in to the high end desktop computer parts space.

they ought to wait till the a.i. bubble pops and then come out swingin'. i'm sure there'd be plenty of people that would grab one, well if computer parts cost what they did a year or two ago. was just thinking, it was december of last year when prices began to spike, so it's not even been a year yet and already feels like forever. just heard somebody talking the other day about 2028 or 2029 and that's just ridiculous. you know everything we do these days depends on personal computing whether it's a desktop, laptop, tablet or even just a phone. they can't just cut us off like that because a.i. they need to enact some price gouging laws on these companies. man screw a.i. they can't just buy out a product that EVERYONE relies on for the next 3 years!!? that's just crazy.

but really i think it's part of their plan or scam, whatever you want to call it, to centralize all the computing power and let us rent out some of it for a monthly subscription. moving us back to the main frame/thin client model. because they don't trust us with that kind of computing power anymore because a few bad apples know how to hack.
 
At no point did they ever stop manufacturing motherboards. He was a part of the LANparty boards but the company has still always maintained a presence in commercial applications. Not consumer focused, but still very much a part of the commercial industrial world of computers.

If I remember right Oscar was a bios magician and when he left things went down hill. I bought nothing but DFI's in the early aughts. Owned all the bling including the UV reactive stuff. Bought UV IDE, floppy cables and put a black light in one case. Wish I'd taken pictures, it was the star of our LAN Parties :happy:

DFI quitted the enthusiast Motherboard market, but as far that I could tell, they never stopped doing industrial/embedded boards.

There were times that I considered that if doing custom builds for non-tech savy users that would most likely use the same system for ages, going with such kind of industrial board seemed more appealing than standard low end setup because if they're intended to be used in hazardous or 24/7 environment, I'm expecting top notch validation and build quality, so build once, put ECC RAM, and forget about any possible kind of Hardware issue for years to come seemed like a good idea when I began to read about the embedded/industrial Motherboard market and where I could find some use for such class of boards. Of course, they're priced accordingly, plus I would have to order them from abroad and deal with customs, etc, so I never implemented such idea of using an industrial board for a home build that wasn't to be touched again.

Yeah that's how I rolled too back then, UV-reactive IDE and floppy drive cables. I used multiple cold cathode UV lights in my systems. Even now I still have 4x 12" blacklights in there. Back in the 90s and 2000s I used to say if I ever did custom watercooling I was gonna have UV-reactive dye or tubes. Wanted UV-reactive fans but never got any. In those days I knew if I had ever ended up with one of those see-through acrylic cases (which I never did), it would be the ones where the cases themselves are UV-reactive.

Now I'm old and can't stand too much light coming from my PC. I find that the low light from the blacklights I have in my current PC (and the blue LED fans) with the tinted window on the case provide an acceptable amount of light (and I can just turn off the blacklights if I feel the need). If my current PC case was full of UV-reactive stuff it would drive me nuts.

Haha yeah I got a lot of pics of old LANParties my crew had, and our old systems. Back then they used to hate on me for taking pics, but now they come to me grateful that I did. What I wish we had were videos.

For those LANParties I also used to bring big standalone blacklights.

IIRC, I also had a LanParty that was a party pooper (failed).
My nForce 4 board died within a year. Northbridge was done.
