I had one back in 2004. Lost it when a friend needed one, figured I'd just buy a new one. Wrong move. Cursed the day that every new printer just counts copies and declares the cartridge empty once that number is reached. This vendor had several, I ordered one. Yes, a gamble. But no contracts, no 'must buy this company's cartridges' (I used aftermarket cartridges for years).

You get to use all the toner in the cartridges. You just had to look out for fading color in copies, so you knew when to replace the cartridge. You only need B&W? Who cares if the color ones are empty. It still printed.
I think there were a few listed on fleabay. There were also some windows versions for those who are okay with that, around the same prices, though some are outrageous delivery charges, but I just wanted one again. It's my birthday present; happy birthday to me. I should have asked, but will Linux work with windows printers? I've been using an ancient HP Laserjet 4L since giving up my color K/M.

OpenPrinting has two driver options listed. The CUPS driver is probably the easier of the two, but not sure as I haven't used ghostscript.

They have a link to a konica minolta website where you can download the CUPS drivers, or you can get the ones hosted by openprinting. Not sure how much I trust either option, really. But those are the only Linux options I found for that printer.

It's also possible it "just works" with some generic driver that is bundled with CUPS in your distro, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Because if I remember correctly, and I had one for several years, you can actually use up the toner in the cartridges until it starts to run out rather than just the number that the copier counts. I gave it away to someone who needed a color copier when I didn't really need it anymore, as I still had an old HP laserjet 4L for basic work correspondence. I still have two computers from circa early 2000's which likely still have the software necessary that works with this printer, and also likely still have the CD that shipped with it with the drivers on it for XP. But I had those computers as I moved to win7, so it's also likely that I have some of that stuff on them, too, as I always used separate drives for the OS and data storage. Either way, I'll see what comes in the box, and I'll tote the old hardware and software I have packed away, and see what I can do with it. Why buy it in the first place? Well, I'm retired, have a bit of money, and regretted that I didn't keep it. I should have just bought my friend his own printer. Instead, a few years later my landlord closed his office, and gave me a Canon all in one, but THAT one liked to count it's own copies, and leave me with half full toner cartridges, which is bullshit. I gave it back to him, and he gave it to someone else.
Toner for this printer is still available, so hopefully I will soon have my own color printer again.
It seems that all the printer companies just love to force us to replace toner whenever we go over their count. Which is also bullshit. I went to some stores, and it seems all their Brother printers require win 10 or 11, and I don't like either. & will do fine, and Linux, so I will only need 10 for very few things that only work with windows.
I don't know what CUPS is or what drivers may be in it, but if what I have doesn't work, I will look into it, thanks.
Yes, the shipping is a bit exhorbitant, but IIRC $400 was about the price that I paid for the new one back in the day, and it's pretty heavy, so I'll live with the over charging on that. I've bought stuff from this seller before, so I'm pretty sure he's not shipping a piece of junk.
