they guy thats never played em is telling us how they are supposed to be, riiiiight....
its sounds like retards wrote it, that work better for ya.

yes...you should listen to people that are smarter than you...how on Earth someone can expect a 20-something character to not speak like a 20-something person is baffling...but then again your stereotypical biases are not surprising

so you're saying that as games age the demographic for those games gets older?...so GTA 6 is mainly marketed for people in their 50's and above?...that's not the way it works...in movies and games there are reboots, remasters etc to get a new generation of players..
People who are into a thing age. Yes, shocking I know. If you change the thing to appeal to other demographics so it is no longer the thing they like they stop buying the thing. It happened to Star Wars, Star Trek, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Lord of the Rings, and so on and on. All ended up in the gutter. So maybe, just maybe it is not such a bright idea to change millenial and gen x IPs to appeal to gen z or gen alpha.
.every GTA game is its own thing and not dependent on having played the previous titles
You know best, after all you never played any of them amirite?
so why aren't Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval in their late 40's or 50's?
Because normal people don't want to see their own reflections in games, only massive narcissistic arseholes with no imagination want that. Why would I want to play as myself? I already do it IRL I wanted to play characters in their prime when I was 10, and I will want to play characters in their prime when I'll be 80, if I survive that long, and the gaming industry does too.

I don't need to smoke cigarettes to know the effects of it...I can research a game without playing it- shocking right?...same way you decide to buy/not buy a game...what do you base that on?...do you play every single game and then decide whether you like it or not?...I have more total hours in all my games then you have combined in your games...my combined hours in any From Software game eclipses your total time in any game you've ever played...please don't diminish my gaming credentials...there's no comparison

I play games for the skill/challenge...you play on easy mode because of your disability

I've taken a unscheduled break from gaming because I have other hobbies...I still have my computer parts sitting here that I haven't built yet...I'm surprised I took this much time off but I'll get back into it soon enough...right now I'm catching up on my backlog of TV series/movies on my Sony A95L QD-OLED

the 2 main playable characters are in their mid 20's...dialogue makes sense for their age...should they be talking like a baby boomer or Gen X?...most AAA games (especially GTA) are marketed towards Gen Z/Millennials
Bruh people are upset about the dialogue? There is a difference between millennial writing and modern slang/vocabulary. This doesn't come off as cringe millennial writing, its just modern vocabulary and how people speak

I don't need to smoke cigarettes to know the effects of it...
To know the chemical effects of it? Maybe not. To know how it tastes and feels? I'm afraid you have to try it to be able to speak with any authority about that.
I can research a game without playing it- shocking right?
Ah, so second hand opinions? That's just great.
...same way you decide to buy/not buy a game...what do you base that on?...do you play every single game and then decide whether you like it or not?...
So do you know or not know what I base it on? I actually do a ritual reading of tarot cards to decide. But seriously most of the time I go by gut feeling, if a game gives off the right vibes and signals I buy it. If I'm not 100% convinced I check out uncut gameplay after it releases.

I have more total hours in all my games then you have combined in your games...
Oh, RLY? You have tens of thousands of hours in every single game you played? If you are going to make up shit at least try to make it believable.
my combined hours in any From Software game eclipses your total time in any game you've ever played...please don't diminish my gaming credentials...there's no comparison
Let me guess, your gaming credentials are kept right next to your media literacy card?
I play games for the skill/challenge...you play on easy mode because of your disability
It is always satisfying when defenders of DEI go full mask off and try to shame someone for their disability when it suits them. BTW I play most games on hard mode, but I'm not ashamed to lower the difficulty when I want to. I don't play for bragging rights, I play for fun.
I've taken a unscheduled break from gaming because I have other hobbies...
Ahhahaha, so I did hit a nerve. Thanks for confirming my suspicions were correct all along.

I said all my games...or individual From Software games if you want to compare a single game...meaning I have more total hours in any From Software game then you have in any single title in your Steam Library...I can prove it by taking a screenshot...can you do the same?...I have over 1000 hours in every From Software game except for their best game Elden Ring

I read an earlier post from you where you said you play most (or all?) games on Easy mode

"I don't play for bragging rights, I play for fun"

fun is a subjective term...my definition of fun is the challenge/skill

nowadays people just look for a reason to be outraged...GTA 6 is too popular so people need to find something to hate about it no matter how little sense it makes

Minus the 30fps, I think the game looks pretty incredible. But that framerate is a doozy. I want to play it, but I know I'm going to be miserable as hell just like I was with the console version or RDR2. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for the PC version.

Yes, you said all your games, as in every single game, than I have in all of my games combined. Many of my most played games are not even on steam and has no records kept of total playtime, so there is no way to even give an exact figure.

I don't really care whether your 1000 hours in fromsoftware games is made up or real, it does not change my valuation of your gaming opinions either way. I already posted my most played games from steam in the topic for it. So if you would've read it you'd have realized that I have almost 1600 hours in XCOM2, meaning your measly 1000 hours in a game is not the flex you thought it was.

I read an earlier post from you where you said you play most (or all?) games on Easy mode
Then as usual you probably misread or misinterpreted it. I will absolutely play a game on easy if it is dreadful on hard. But the best games get better on higher difficulty.

wow what a coincidence huh?...all of your most played games just happen to not be provable

I said over 1000 hours in every single FS game...not exactly 1000 hours...and it's not just 1 game or even just FS games...I think I have over 1000 hours in Evolve as well which was that asymmetrical MP game...when I play a game I always explore everything, do all side quests and basically try to maximize every moment of the game...meaning every single game in my Library has a much longer play time than the average gamer...I know you believe it because it's easy to prove

*I just checked Evolve and I have 862.2 hours in that game...so not 1000

I don't entirely disagree with him. If they are in their 20s I would expect them to speak like people in their 20s. They're also Latinos speaking with black and ghetto people, and those demographics sound very different. Things like "finna" or "blick" sound stupid to us (or whatever slang they will use in the game) but it is correct if you want to make characters from those demographics. If it fits the theme on 2020s ghetto Miami, then I would be fine with it.

My highest hour count games on Steam pre-date the whole hour count thing. Add in all the non-Steam games I play and it is a pointless metric to use.

exactly...it's Miami...anyone who's been to Miami recently knows it has a large Hispanic population...the culture in Miami itself is very urban...the setting of the game fits the characters...if the game took place in a fictionalized version of Utah that would feel out of place

Not coincidence, it is just an irrelevant fact you try to cling on. Many of my games predate steam, or not bought on steam. I have zero reason to lie, no need to project your own insecurities to me. I don't care if you wasted more time on games than me, it is just funny that you try to flex your 1000 hours and it turns out I've spent 1600 in a game on Steam.

I see what you are doing, trying to dodge my other points by fixating on how much time you spent in games, that nobody asked or cares about. You are like the old guy, who brags that he has driven a million miles and never had an accident. And when you sit beside him for the first time you realise he is a total menace on the road and the most unsafe driver you ever met. So sorry, spending a lot of time in games does not make you an authority on games, nor does it prove that you are some savant gamer.
*I just checked Evolve and I have 862.2 hours in that game...so not 1000
OK, and? After playing a game for 2-3 hours you can say you got the gist of it and are able to form an informed opinion on it.

I don't even know what was the original point of contention. I saw the trailer and I didn't notice anything overly cringe or out of place in it.
My point was made in general that it's not a good idea to change IPs to adopt it to a new demographic while disregarding the original fans. I don't think this is what GTA VI is doing, in fact it's quite the opposite, it seems truer to the older games than GTA V was based on the trailer.

How dare you! BTW typical Gen-Z attitude that if it was before my time it doesn't exist.

I've explained this to you at least a dozen times and you don't seem to understand...I don't need to play every single game in order to have an informed opinion on it...that what trusted reviews are for...key word is trusted...of course I'm not going to believe every review on the planet but there are a few sites that I trust more than others...I can find out about a game through reviews and player opinions...I don't need to buy Diablo IV or Claire Obscur no matter how highly rated they are because I know those types of turn based and top down games are not for me...it's not a big deal...I respect those who love the game but I'm allowed to have my own opinion

Cyberpunk 2077 was not in good shape at launch...you kept telling everyone how perfect it was for you and you had no major issues...I guess you had a unicorn version of the game...yes the game was technically playable at launch but there's a difference between playable and optimized...it took years to get it into launch shape...the developers even admitted that...same with STALKER 2...there's nothing wrong with waiting for patches or for games to get better...that's actually the norm nowadays...you act like everyone has to play every AAA game on Day 1...when you do that you try and rationalize how great it is when it might not be

you try to force your opinion onto everyone else and if someone disagrees with you they are wrong...I admitted I haven't played previous GTA games, not because I think they are bad games but just because I didn't want to at the time...and the first thing you do is make a sarcastic reply telling me I shouldn't have an opinion because I never played them which is ridiculous...I never said they were bad games

I don't try and force From Software games on everyone else because I know it's an acquired taste...learn to accept that not all games are for all people...there are many reasons why someone may not want to play a game you like...they don't need to play the game (and refund it) to be able to have an opinion on it...they can read trusted sources like Digital Foundry, Hardware Unboxed etc

I mentioned my gameplay times only because you tried to diminish my gaming knowledge

as far as DEI...you keep using those words over and over...I never once said I supported any of that...I support good games regardless if it has caucasion developers, Black playable characters or trans characters...you seem to take issue with that and love to label things...I don't...I like to use common sense...I watch a game or movie based on its quality not because I'm looking for a reason to hate it...I mentioned the upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series earlier...yes I'm 100% going to watch that despite its lead character being a trans person

To keep the hype spread out they’ll probably wait a month to show PS5 pro footage.

I've explained this to you at least a dozen times and you don't seem to understand...I don't need to play every single game in order to have an informed opinion on it...
Repeating the same wrong thing again and again does not magically make it correct. You can read all the books about carpentry, you won't become a carpenter without actually doing it.
that what trusted reviews are for...key word is trusted...of course I'm not going to believe every review on the planet but there are a few sites that I trust more than others...I can find out about a game through reviews and player opinions...I don't need to buy Diablo IV or Claire Obscur no matter how highly rated they are because I know those types of turn based and top down games are not for me...it's not a big deal...I respect those who love the game but I'm allowed to have my own opinion
That just means those reviewers probably have the same biases as you do. Nothing wrong with getting informed about a game to decide whether you want to buy it. But you act like reading a few reviews makes you equipped to argue with those who actually played the games, you do this all the time, and it always ends up derailing threads.
Cyberpunk 2077 was not in good shape at launch...you kept telling everyone how perfect it was for you and you had no major issues...I guess you had a unicorn version of the game...yes the game was technically playable at launch but there's a difference between playable and optimized...it took years to get it into launch shape...the developers even admitted that..
I never said it was perfect, not the revisionist history. I said it was worth playing and those who skipped on it were missing out. I stand by that statement to this day. Even if it did not fulfill a bunch of promises made it was still one of the best games ever made. Not playing it for that reason is like rejecting a free maserati because you were promised a free ferrari.
.same with STALKER 2...there's nothing wrong with waiting for patches or for games to get better...that's actually the norm nowadays...you act like everyone has to play every AAA game on Day 1...when you do that you try and rationalize how great it is when it might not be
I definitely don't act like that since I barely play any AAA games these days, because most of them don't pass my vibe check. The difference is that when I decide to skip a game I no longer linger in its topic arguing with those who actually play it, trying to convince them that I'm the enlightened one and how wrong and stupid they are for playing the game.
you try to force your opinion onto everyone else and if someone disagrees with you they are wrong...I admitted I haven't played previous GTA games, not because I think they are bad games but just because I didn't want to at the time...and the first thing you do is make a sarcastic reply telling me I shouldn't have an opinion because I never played them which is ridiculous...I never said they were bad games
This was just another prime example of you trying to educate people about games you didn't play.
And do you see me in the topic of any fromsoftware game? No, because I don't play them. The only one I ever posted about was armored core 6, because I did try that and after defeating the first boss I knew it is not for me, haven't even looked at the topic since.
I mentioned my gameplay times only because you tried to diminish my gaming knowledge
Playing 1000 hours of one game, does not make you qualified to talk about another game you played 0 hours.
as far as DEI...you keep using those words over and over...I never once said I supported any of that...I support good games regardless if it has caucasion developers, Black playable characters or trans characters...you seem to take issue with that and love to label things...I don't...I like to use common sense...I watch a game or movie based on its quality not because I'm looking for a reason to hate it...I mentioned the upcoming Blade Runner 2099 series earlier...yes I'm 100% going to watch that despite its lead character being a trans person
Pattern recognition is one of the oldest human survival instincts. Developers who parade around DEI values regularly produce badly written games where fan service is forbidden. So yes every time it comes up I will assume the game is bad until proven otherwise. It has nothing to do with politics on my part and everything to do with quality. I don't know anything about Blade Runner 99. Is the character written as trans? Then I take no issue with it. But if they cast a trans person to play a woman's role, I do not support that, because I oppose the erasure of women. I think a woman is more than a social construct and if a man can replace a woman then women are left disenfranchised.

To keep the hype spread out they’ll probably wait a month to show PS5 pro footage.
What if this is already Pro footage? Or did they explicitly state somewhere that it's not? Because if I were a slimey marketing director I'd just say a Pro is a PS5 too, so we didn't lie.

Explicitly states at the end its base PS5 footage. PSSR upscaling would have looked sharper. I doubt it’ll improve the ray tracing all that much though. They’ll probably leave it at the lowest amount of rays and have a slightly higher max dynamic resolution to upscale from capped at 30fps. If people are super lucky they’ll have a 40fps VRR mode.
