The issue with using things like blender renders to judge performance. Is that it's mostly a useless metric. All the cpu really has to do is feed the GPU cores. All the heavy lifting isn't done on the cpu. At one time cpu render was still the only accurate result. That isn't true anymore. You can use GPUs in high accuracy modes.
Even for render farms the power savings feeding the GPUs is measurable if not massive. Cost savings even greater.
