This driver is interesting. My main display no longer gets reinitialized (temporary black screen) when turning on my AVR (DP to HDMI from GPU to AVR), and it seems like Dolby Atmos is working without dropping out or going robotic. Here's hoping those problems don't come back in future drivers.
 
Installed and am pleased with the results.

Even though it isn't mentioned in the driver change log, Fallout 4 seems to tun smoother at max settings than it did on previous driver versions. I'll have to test this out on other games as well.
 
I had to roll back from this driver. I'm on an EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, power limited to 77%, nothing overclocked.

I was playing FF14 and after 2-3 hours all of a sudden it crashed with an error message on the screen, then it went back to the desktop and my videocard fans ramped to 100% for a few seconds before going back to normal. I also noticed that EVGA Precision X1 stopped running or crashed somehow. I've never seen that happen before. Temps seemed ok, wasn't sure what could have happened, then I remembered that I installed these drivers that same morning. I rolled back and haven't had a single issue since, and I've been putting serious hours into FF14 this week too. So hopefully the next driver can fix whatever went wrong with the new one.
 
I ran Borderlands 4 without issues for 4 hours think I might run Wagnard tools do a clean install.
 
Performance on 40 series just keeps dropping. On Cyberpunk 2077 my average FPS is down 19% since 566.36. At this point the 4090 is barely faster than the 9070XT. I know the card hasn't actually lost performance because I have many of the old drivers saved, DDU and reinstall the old one and its right back where it was.

I've found the opposite on my 4080, CP2077 generally gets around 94FPS 4K DLSS Perf and Path Tracing On, the last couple have boosted this to 95/96FPS, but it's generally quite consistent. The only issue I've had is with the nVidia app sometimes breaking FG.

I think what I'm seeing is a bug of some kind, although 40 series performance has dropped off badly since the 50 series launch regardless, likely purposeful to make people buy new cards so Jensen can get a new jacket.

Check this out, I tried this on two separate machines with multiple cards and the 4090 is the only one showing this. This is what happens after you fast travel and/or reload a save. Look at the massive drop in GPU use, wattage, etc on 610.88. This is just logging performance, loading a save and walking a circle around kabuki market over and over.

Did you test any other games to see if it's losing performance there as well? Losing performance in a single game isn't really enough to call it purposeful gimping of performance. More like just a bug with that one game.

While it's odd that GPU utilization would go down across drivers, I don't think it's a good comparison when you're CPU limited to begin with. But yeah, I can see how you're getting 9070XT level performance with such a CPU bottleneck there. It seems you're playing at 1080p there though as well with such low VRAM usage and high frame rates.

So how does the performance difference look when you're playing at higher resolution and/or with settings maxed out so you're adequately loading up the GPU?

1440p max with no RT, and it remains the same at 4K. The reason I noticed it is I normally play at 5K and the frame loss is VERY noticeable when you rely on frame gen.

So what if you enable RT or PT? I would think performance would be more consistent when you're not as CPU limited as you are at least. Then you can consider using frame gen if you have stable frame times at least.

But also, prolly just stick with the older drivers too unless you need the newer ones for game-ready support or there's a huge performance difference in other games you play.

This is one of the many joys (pains) of PC gaming these days unfortunately. Another is now having to remember and test what upscaling versions and/or AA methods to use in which games for best performance and IQ. Lately DLSS/DLAA can be worse than TAA in a couple games I've seen.

IDK how to get "less" CPU limited with a tuned 9800X3D at 5K2K, you can figure that out for me. Its clearly a bug, but performance on 40 series has regressed by a decent amount as the drivers go on.

As I said; You enable more GPU demanding features and effects like RT or PT.

But you said those benchmarks were at 1440p. So are you still CPU limited (well below 95% GPU utilization) at 5k at the same settings? If so, then you should enable RT/PT in order to stabilize performance by staying GPU limited.

No dude, CPU limitation is NOT the problem to begin with. Thats the whole point. I don't know why you're hung up on it, you can clearly see that the first time I load with 610.88 the performance is comparable to the old driver, but the second load drops 20%. That is not a CPU issue, its literally the same exact scene.

Only losing performance after you load the game a second time is definitely a bug. I would not call it total driver level gimping of the 40 series unless you can replicate the same behavior across multiple titles. So far this is an isolated case.
 
Removing the Control Panel was the stupidest thing Nvidia ever did at least give us a number calibation on the Nvidia App. Downloading off the Windows store is a pain.

I did not post some comprehensive review, it was an example. I know we're not allowed to say anything negative about our Nvidia overlords but I'm not the first person to have noticed this by a long shot.

I'm not calling you a liar nor did I say you can't say anything negative about Nvidia. But for years now it's been proven that driver level gimping isn't a thing because it makes no sense. Bugs have always crept up that kills your performance so if you want to say that the number of bugs has gotten worst over the years then I agree with you, it certainly has. But purposely doing driver level gimping to older cards to try and get people to upgrade when 5090's are now over $5000 makes zero sense. Gamers are not upgrading shit at these prices. And besides, Nvidia does not care if you don't upgrade to a 5090 because someone will just buy it for AI use anyway, they don't need to resort to performance gimping to get anyone to buy anything.

I'm hoping one day the Nvidia app will have parity with Adrenalines software suite but I'm not holding my breath for that. I find it very annoying that I have to power limit the 5090 by constantly fidgeting every setting for every new game to keep it from overloading the 12VHPWR connector. I tried power limiting in the Nvidia app and it constantly causes issues with my system with lockups stuttering and other miscellaneous issues that I can't seem to get a handle on. I welcome any help with power limiting a 5090 via Nvidia's software that runs without issue if anyone is willing to share their experience. For now I'll just flat panel game on my 7900 and let the globally set limits do their thing and run my VR flight sims on the 5090 since it performs better at that and I only have to fidget with the settings for those to maintain my self imposed power limit of under 400watts on the connector.

OK if anyone is interested I found a vid explaining how to set a undervolt/power limit on the 5090 that works consistently without issues. The method is a bit convoluted and tedious but it does work for targeting a specific power level and clock speed for lower fan speeds/temps and better power efficiency. Vid here.
