Looks like a 4090 can crank things up all the way in 4K with RT enabled as long as you use DLSS. I'm cool with that. DLSS has gotten good enough where I don't even notice it in most games.
 
I just fired it up and ran the benchmark. I cranked everything to the max and set dynamic resolution to "quality." My 4090/7950X3D pulled 100fps (4K) on the dot even with Teams and a dozen Chrome tabs running. It looks basically just like Shadows does in terms of quality. That's encouraging for playing a little here and there during my work breaks.
 
im going to give it a go via ubi+, need something to play while im off for the summer but im not paying full price.

So far enjoying it a lot. It’s my favorite AC, and the updated graphics along with how good the game runs is super impressive. Also like that they streamlined the game and removed the present day intermission stuff. It’s basically the perfect the remaster. Also nice to see they didn’t remove stuff like the whaling.

Only complaint is that cutscenes seem to be frame capped, but that’s about the only limitation I’m seeing with the game.

I remember loving this game when it originally released. I was worried that this remake might tarnish my memory, but it seems it really is a modern version of an old favourite.
 
It's my favourite of the series so I picked it up. I was going to wait but my humble bundle account gave me 20% off.

I'll wait a few weeks to play it for some bugs to be ironed out. And maybe some mods will be out by then that fix the downgrade for some of the character models.

There are already mods to fix the 30FPS cutscenes. I was expecting the scummy DLC as it's just what Ubi does now in all it's games.
 
Per Ubi, the 30fps cutscenes = accidental.

"We are aware that there is an issue where cutscenes on PC are locked to 30 FPS when using Raytracing, BVH or Terrain Quality at Ultra High setting. We have a fix coming soon, but in the meantime, we've provided a temporary workaround: Reset the graphics Overall Preset to any pre-configured setting and avoid manually setting Raytracing, BVH or Terrain Quality to the Ultra High setting. Thanks for your patience!"

Or you can do it in game:

FYI the DLSS presets are messed up (all besides Native and Quality). The render resolution % setting is incorrect, it should always be 100%. The output res should always be your monitor native resolution.

Use the custom setting and just set the "maximum dynamic resolution" manually, leaving "resolution scale" at 100%. Performance is 25%, Balanced is 34%, Quality is 44%
