Well, there goes $1079.99 - Avoid HP's All-in-Ones

My son is very clumsy, and he gets it from his mother. My work areas are restricted to them, and my wife hates it. So the one time she goes through my area for whatever reason, she bumps into the table holding a HP All-in-One computer. It falls off the base stand, and the screen gets cracked. It's not all her fault, because the HP All-in-One, for whatever reason, really easily comes off the base stand. Sometimes I wonder if they do it on purpose. Like, why would they design an All-in-One, where the monitor is pretty much everything, to come off the base stand so easily? It doesn't even click in. They don't come with VESA holes. Just dumb.

At any rate, I can at least salvage the internals. I just needed to rant. And also, avoid HP All-in-Ones, their base stand must have been vibe-designed.

That would make me nuts. I don't use a case on my phone because I've never broken a smartphone, and I started with a Palm Treo in 2005. Never busted a laptop either. The only all-in-one I've ever had was a 15" "grape" CRT iMac I got free from work in the early 2000s. Late 1990s gear being retired from a university computer lab. I gutted it and made a "rotten apple" for lan parties. 14" LCD, AthlonXP on an mATX board, etc. But oops, early 2000s. Board died from bad caps.

My late father gave me this Dell aio that have an AMD Athlon Silver 3050U processor 3yrs ago. Its touchscreen and not bad. I really was thinking of upgrading by getting a 27'' touchscreen Ryzen model (Dell or HP) then selling the Dell. Just wondering is it really worth it? I did see a 27'' model in the local pawnshop but didnt put it on layaway so when i called back a couple wks later it ws gone. Ohhh well

Oof, brutal loss. At least you can pull the SSD and RAM out of it, but it's ridiculous that a slight bump can send a $1k machine to the grave because they couldn't be bothered to put a simple latch on the mount
