Or "far radical left" or "communist" or whatever is opportune for the Epstein class to call you to make sure you don't sit down with "the other side" and realize the Epstein class was the other side all along.
The corruption in our government is so obvious it's really sad they don't even take the time to hide it. Doesn't matter if you're left or right, black or white, Windows or MacOS user. They have turned to technology and sadly AI to monitor your activity. Just like how age (ID) verification has bipartisan support, so too will this 3D printer ban. You know what else has bipartisan support?

I don't like the video. He purposefully keeps it very vague to make it sound like the government is coming for your Etsy or Facebook store. Most of them are concerned about ghost guns and I get it. I think some of the methods they are using to deal with it are suspect but a "war on manufacturing"? That's pure hyperbole.

War on *personal* manufacturing. But otherwise, I agree. He was very vague for the first few minutes, almost as if he was trying to keep you there longer to get more ad views. I think the point was supposed to be "if you think this is just about blocking 3d printers from making untraceable gun parts, you're wrong, it's the thin end of the wedge for the government to block anything they don't want you to make, on any kind of computerized equipment."

Even a war on personal manufacturing is hyperbole. Most of this stuff is about people making their own guns to get around laws in place in many places. The fact that some of the methods are crappy ways to deal with it can potentially cause problems in other areas but, at this time, is not in the cards that I've seen. I haven't seen anyone pushing to limit people printing drawer handles, hanging hooks, bins, or anything else of the sort. Show me someone trying to stop me from printing anything I've been printing and I'll believe it is a war on personal manufacturing but I doubt anyone can.

Note, I don't agree at all with forcing software to poll a government database before 3D printing an item. That's BS and would severely limit the ability to use any of these tools. It also forces people to have those tools operate with a data connection to the internet which is just seriously idiotic.

What does stopping 3D printed guns do?

The problem is that our government is now turning to computers and AI to limit what people can do. Which is so idiotic that I can't even being to imagine what chaos this will cause. Flock cameras, OnStar, ID Verification, and now 3D printing? While depending on AI that sometimes can't make coherent sentences? The only reason people haven't tried to stop this is because it hasn't had a direct effect on them yet.

Their idea of control is an illusion. The stupidity of these people knows no limits. They think computers are totally under Microsoft, Apple's, and even Linux Torvald's control, but that couldn't be further from the truth. That type of control is limited to iOS, and nobody is 3D printing from an iPhone. Before someone corrects me, but yes I know you can 3D print from an iPhone but you wouldn't want to. Every other computer and OS is open for business.

Look at what happened to Flock cameras where people are cutting them down and towns are now rethinking keeping them. People have learned to effectively remove OnStar and have even gone after GM because their insurance companies got a hold of their logs and increased their insurance rates. Even ID Verification is never going to work because of Linux as these laws are now making exceptions to open source for good reasons. Now they think they can limit 3D printers.

We also know why they're doing this because Luigi Mangione used a 3D printed gun to kill a CEO. As if Luigi couldn't buy a regular gun and do the same thing. Regular people die then who cares, but a CEO dies then we need to change some laws. The 3D printer Pandora's box has long been opened and won't ever shut. You know this will be a problem when Bob tries to 3D print a water gun and can't because the AI thinks he's making a regular gun. Or maybe he's trying to make a Nintendo Zapper Gun for he's 1985 NES and the 3D printer denies him. Nothing but idiots in government.

So now, the only people with decent printers will be the cartels. Organized crime will always be able to get their guns.

I've had decent luck for simpler sand casts, but I had a six rotor manifold 3D printed and I am absolutely blown away by the result. I have to do some clean up on it for sure, but it's really solid quality. Way better than sintering was just a couple of years ago.

Casual. Inexpensive. Hobby.
Tell us moar? Maybe start a different thread. 6 rotors? That's basically porn. May have to label it NSFW.

Stopping 3D printed guns? Probably bugger all. I don't support their efforts.

As for the Honda thing, I understand why companies would do that. Even if I don't agree with it, if you're reproducing copyright or trademark material or even, by your wording, "hinting" that the Honda part might be genuine (even though we know it isn't) then some companies will try to stop you. I think it is a massive overreaction on Honda's part but I understand why they did it. Given the massive volume of Disney, Marvel, DC, and so forth models on these sites if there really was a "war on personal manufacturing" then these sites would be barren wastelands. Maybe in the future that'll happen? I dunno. Too early to tell. But, yeah, I get why they'd want to protect their business. After all, most of these companies sell parts themselves and if people can just 3D print the exact same part then their business will take a hit, even if it is small. I don't agree with them, but I get why they might take that approach. But, at the same time, most of them haven't.

Our government is asking all criminals to please throw away their old 3D printers and computers. Please upgrade your computer to Windows 11. You can repair a 3D printer indefinitely. It's a huge disconnect from reality.

The problem is that they're reproduction, as in someone remade the part. They maybe very similar, but not the original part. This I don't agree with. If your business is depending on people buying over priced plastic then that's a you problem.

I get it. Totally understand it. I just get why they're doing it. Disagree, but I understand their business case. In some cases they may have had a point but went way overboard and Prusa just folded on the overall list. I've seen some stuff on these sites who really "pump up" the OEM side of things. Some people literally include the OEM part number in the title of their submissions which is just begging the companies to try to stop them. People just need to be clever with their wording and not blatantly thumb their nose at the company who originally designed the part. Also, in the case of that Honda issue only one website actually folded under Honda's pressure. All the models are still available. So the "war on personal manufacturing" seemed to fail miserably in that case.

I've put part numbers on things I've made, but that's to help others find the part. It also helps make the part look more "authentic". I don't think it matters if they do or don't, it's just companies abusing their power. Just look at Nintendo and them removing open source Switch emulators. Emulators are legal, but that isn't stopping Nintendo. The only time reverse engineered car parts can be illegal is when they use logos, but with a large enough army of lawyers then anything can be considered illegal. It's hard to make a 3D printed Honda badge without the Honda logo. I get what Honda is doing too, I just don't like it.

Yep. I get it. They're using a chainsaw instead of a scalpel. They should be going in and targeting the people who might actually be violating a trademark but instead they take the lazy approach and do a search all for the word Honda and lay the smack down.
