Street Fighter 6

Bought the game only to realize that they're download DLC characters multiple times that cost as much as the game itself over and over. Feels like I got jacked I guess I've been spoiled with having all the characters and just paying once in the beginning with all my shooters games.

The last 2 Street Fighter and Tekken games have been a money sink. If you want all the characters, you're gonna spend a minimum of $150. At least assuming you aren't catching them on deep discount or some kind of special bundle. Even then you're probably still dropping 2X the cost of the normal game.

That said, there's a precedent for it. In the old days they'd release a whole new arcade cabinet + console port every 12-18 months. Buying DLC is actually cheaper in the grand scheme of things.

Which is why I wait for the inevitable Super/Ultra/Champion edition.

If you wanted you could offset some of the cost by selling your carts, but yeah I'm mostly done with the genre because of this business model they currently use.

I should have waited. I threw $27 American bucks at it ffs and it's only the base game but the game is a few years old I didn't even think I should wait longer cause it would be dead at that point maybe.

There more time goes on the more I appreciate free to play games that only try to sell you cosmetics. It's getting harder for me to justify paying for a game. Maybe because all the shooters I play are literally free to play so I'm spoiled in that way. Now I do buy discount keys from the key websites that are great deal usually half price of the stock price but I don't know if I would throw $75 or $100 at Street fighter. It's also a very technically demanding game on the controller. I'm definitely a mouse a keyboard guy and have been my whole life. I've never owned a console. I started my gaming career on a PC lol

Gonna be interesting to see what the really good players can do with Viper. In SF4 she was hyper technical and high risk/high reward with those pinpoint move cancels. The initial videos make it look like she retained a lot of that stuff, although probably simplified a bit since nothing is truly manual in SF6.

I actually really like what they did with Alex in SF6. He's been a pretty terrible character across nearly every game he's been in. His design has always involved a series of random decent moves that weren't designed to work together. With this Alex, it's like they almost went back to the drawing board. He might continue to suck, but at least they seem to have acknowledged that his design wasn't cutting it.

I just can't get excited about anything sf6. There are just too many mechanics. I crave a simple fighting game that doesn't have a thousand mechanics.

I'm with you. That's modern fighting games in a nutshell, though. Everything is designed to be overwhelming and a borderline 50/50 mix-up. Most put a focus on fighting at point blank, too. People still play classic Street Fighter and Tekken games and it's cool to see some actual defense and longer-range gameplay. That's what happens when you don't have 5 different offensive options for every scenario.

Hmmmm. I'm going to call this group wack. Tifa isn't a bad pick, but the other 3 feel boring on paper. Hopefully once we see some gameplay they'll have a little more pizzazz.

In spite of how she appeared on the surface, I think Yasmine's character design looks pretty phenomenal. She borrows elements from some older characters, but her overall kit seems fresh. It's still SF6, but I dig what they did.
