No Man's Sky - a procedurally generated sand box space exploration game

Well I put the game down a week or so back, and of course this pops up. I have never participated in an expedition but maybe this time I will.

Swarm Expedition Update

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NomizORoqU

Looks like the limited time Expedition comes with new 'Direwasp' armor, 'Hive of Glass' space star ship encounter, drone dogfights, research opportunities, new flightpack, on planet drone fights, intra-player rivalry, team themed posters and flags, direwasp multitool, etc.

Seems players will be added to: the royal, the sage, and the weaver teams with only one getting the counter-swarm to work.

On the urging of a coworker I fired up a new save for the Swarm Expedition. Figured I haven't explored this aspect of the game so may as well.

The scramble progress from nothing to something was not bad. The various sub-section rewards for the expedition really helped speed up the process.

Oh, and I am a fancy pants Royal.

I was pretty impressed by the numbers. In the span of an hour about 6,000 more users signed in and were distributed.

I believe I am at the early part stopping point so missions are time locked and waiting for each collective to accumulate. I may grind a bit more for an A or S freighter and get that shored up.

I was pretty lucky to snag an S class fighter in the middle of all of this.

One thing I am not super keen on is just the litter of base builds people are leaving everywhere. Most almost right on top of various railed mission points. So it goes.

The new multitool for it looks pretty swanky and the space combat with swarms is at least something different.

If it gets bad on a quest point with the bases etc. just turn off multiplayer in the settings and get the quest done. Can turn it back on after that. I had to turn it off for the garbage trucking expedition.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do that. I am not planning on playing with any randos at the moment.

A little warning for anyone who is playing the Swarm expedition and gets the "head to planet X and dig up three swam pieces and destroy them" mission. It turns out if you switch off of the terrain manipulator tool - or get in your ship - the count of how many you removed resets and generally messes up the area. It would be be to head to space, pulse around the planet, and land somewhere else to start again. Took me a bit of time to recognize that issue.

These numbers are just wild in terms of the dedicated effort by one group even with the timed cool down for the missions.

I jump back in for all the expeditions and am enjoying it. Ended up on team Weavers. Getting to the point of doing the 3 community missions, once per 8 hours, is pretty easy and can be done in one sitting. At this point I’m trying to jump on after work and do one off each of those per day if possible.

Anyone who has the game I encourage you to hop in!

Indeed. Depending on the roll of the dice for mission types I can typically knock out all three in about 25ish minutes.

The only one giving me trouble is the 'peel of parts from the drone'. That grabber tool is super duper finicky for one of the internal parts every darn time. That or my brain smooths out when it shows up.

On the plus side I never really used the pulse spitter in my normal play and a sup'ed up version of that really does a number on the purple corrupted sentinels that show up.
