I dont want cheap garbage but Im not looking for anything super high end either. I only need 16 ports but would take a 24 if its not crazy expensive
I want to plug it in and forget its there...what do you guys recommend.. ?

Easier to get a used 10g switch for that many ports if you dont mind some fan noise.

Not crazy expensive, relatively, is also difficult with that speed and port count. If new id say two 8 port trendnet or tplinks. That should be around $200-$250 for both.

TP-Link or Trendnet are my goto for the 'dumb unmanaged switch that just work' category. I would also check ebay because I've found some mis-listed that I got for a song. Hope this helps!

And the comment on moving to 10Gb is dead on. With dual 10GBase-T cards like $15, and used 10Gb switches cheaper than 2.5Gb new, you can switch everything over to 10Gb for usually around the same cost as going 2.5Gb.

I wouldn't knock the cheap stuff anymore. I needed a bunch of boxes checked, 2.5gbps, managed, POE, 10Gbps RJ45 uplink. I found this brand "mokerlink" and bought the 9 port variety. It has rocked the house for like a year now, no issues.

I have one that I'm not using. TP-Link TL-SH1218, 16 ports 2.5g and two 10 gig uplinks.

Ordered it from TP-Link overseas because it wasn't sold in the US. DM if you're interested.

I appreciate everybody's suggestions.
I decided to switch things up and grab one that does POE so I can clean up my current install and make it easier to expand if needed.

Gotta love PoE. I use a PoE switch for my WiFi APs. Also good for security cameras. What did you get?
