Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

"My Lara is not a sex bombshell.
So it's not the Lara Croft we know and love, gotcha! Then why use the name if you just going to do your own thing instead? That's a rhetorical question, I know you want the built in fanbase and name recognition to boost your show. But how many times has this approach failed already?

It's about her and her story and what drives her,
Why wtf do you think the games were about if not her?
rather than what so many people also love about her, which is how hot she is in the games and the movies.
So you want to make a show that removes or changes the aspects of the character that people love about her?! Make it make sense, please!
But I really want to show the other side.
There is no other side.
She’s so unashamedly capable. She is not a woman who hides her strengths at all"
She already was / is in the games. Tell me you know nothing of the source material without telling me you know nothing.

This will be another disaster. I hope they have their token black character at the ready so they can blame the inevitable failure on racism.

Name one game American that has a good looking American female protagonist =) I think this is all we have really all the other game are Asians kockoffs. There are some attempts at good looking female in MMOs. We have Darksiders 3 Control maybe the characters in Alan Wake 2. Oh yeah Starwars Outlaws :p You guys tore that game apart.

I think what she is trying to say is that she doesn't have huge jammers like the video game.

That and a thousand other "modern audience" tropes. Phoebe Waller Bridge is the showrunner. It's naive to think anything less.

"Modern" TV is nothing if not predictable, so here are my predictions:

  • The pictured costume will be played off as a joke: "Can you believe I used to wear this for adventuring?" Then they'll put her in a burlap sack that makes her look completely plain.
  • She will not be raiding any tombs but fighting the patriarchy keeping her down.
  • The villains will be evil male adventurers. (On the nose about making sure you know that Indiana Jones is actually a villain)
  • She'll be stealing artifacts from museums and rich collectors to return to the natives.
  • Hints at being bi or lesbian (maybe even presented as fact)
  • Useless annoying sidekick, either dorky white guy who she'll constantly humiliate, or a sexually non-threatening castrated black guy who can do no wrong and lectures her about the errors of her ways
  • Some sort of PTSD / mental illness haunting her, she'll be doing this to heal, not for fun or any sense of adventure.

I'm going in with the expectation that they'll do everything in their power to do the opposite of what the OG Lara Croft is. If I'm completely off the mark it might be a good show.

You may be putting too much thought into it.

I'm not getting the adventurous young aristocrat vibe. More like middle aged wine mom.
I am getting the over the hill soccer mom drinking white claw vibe... This one looks good and I hope it is good but I am getting a tv series game adaption vibe. I think instead of upgrading my computer I will go build an engine, unless they come out with a nude patch that is.

It looks alright. From the trailer it's obvious the devs are wanting this game to be more of a modern spin of the classic Core era as opposed to Crystal Dynamics more realistic tactical/survival era. You're getting the TR puzzles either way. Combat will be different to those only exposed to the CD latter era.

It still feels like Tomb Raider to me. Lara's look has never bothered me in any era. Crystal Dynamics overhauled Lara's physical looks almost every time.

I am probably going to miss some of the characters introduced in the past few games, such as Jonah.

I was disappointed that they didn't reveal she drives a soccer mom van / SUV.

Wasn't getting a good Tomb Raider feel from the reveal trailer. Going to wait until a few reviews come out before making a decision.

My favorite part of the trailer is that the "lost worlds" it is actively describing literally have open sky

Like nobody on planet Earth has seen this gigantic fucking labyrinthine temple just sitting in the middle of a fucking jungle where a fucking t-rex is stomping around to this very day???
