Anyone have experience with this company Plugable?

I need a new hub, and I'm burned up on Belkin after 2 of their hubs (USB, HDMI, Ethernet) have burned up on me.

So I did an AI search, and found this company that I had never heard of. https://www.amazon.com/stores/Pluga...ef_=ast_bln&store_ref=bl_ast_dp_brandLogo_sto

I think this hub would meet my needs for a lot less than those Belkin hubs. https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Dis...et-Vertical/dp/B08B6CZ29Q/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis But I wanted to get the collective wisdom of this group before pulling the trigger.

Thanks, and Happy Black Friday

Is this just for a laptop to have a desktop setup or are you using this for gaming etc? The USB displaylink stuff is basically usb graphics interfaces (I ran these back in the early 2000s to add extra monitors back when most gpus could only run 2). I believe anything you do on that monitor plugged into the displaylink will be getting accelerated by the cpu not the gpu. Expect latency or lag for heavy stuff, but basic productivity or browsing is probably good. As for the brand, I've seen them around for years and never heard much about them but my perception was they make decent products. I just ordered something of theirs a week ago.

Thanks for the reply. I should have been more clear. This is just for a laptop to have a desktop setup, basic productivity, email, web browsing. No games, except maybe solitaire.

Out of curiosity, what made you chose a Plugable product from this large marketplace with so many vendors?

For that price, get an Anker or Ugreen at least, or look for a used Dell/HP/lenovo dock...

@McGuvernment

I looked at both Ugreen and Anker. The Ugreen hub just didn't have enough USB A ports. The Anker had a PD feature that I didn't need for my use case and didn't want to pay for.

https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Dis...et-Vertical/dp/B08B6CZ29Q/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis This unit is only $103 and has everything I need except for 1 extra USB A port. For that I use a simple USB A unpowered hub, which is just a small stick.

I've been using a couple external Plugable 2.5GbE NICs. The quality seems to be great. They have a chipset that is compatible (built in drivers) with Mac, so when I got my M4 Mini base model I just added the Plugable NIC. It has been very reliable, no issues. I don't really think about it, which is the best way for a tool to be. :)

Thanks to everyone who replied. Last night I ordered a Plugable hub. I was wrong about the price. $103 is the Amazon prime price. Regular price is $139. No way in heck will I ever sign up for Amazon Prime.

Late to the party, but my wife's docking station/hub from a few jobs ago is a plugable and is still working great.
