Thinking about getting the SAMSUNG 27-Inch Odyssey G50D Series Gaming Monitor. How would my computer handle 1440p gaming. Currently playing Doom the Dark Ages, Fortnite, Diablo 4, Forza Horizon 4 and 5. On Forza Horizon 5 and Doom I get warnings of running out of Video Memory at higher settings at 1080p.

My computer is a Minisforum 795s7 (Ryzen 9 7945HX, 16core 5.4ghz, Geforce RTX5060 8gb, 32gigs DDR5 5200 MHZ.)

I would like to do a Case Transplant and get a 16gb RT9060XT or a RTX5060ti 16gb but that isn't in my budget for a while. Just wondering if upgrading the Monitor now would be a good idea or if I should wait and do the transplant first?

Damn, I was just about ready to buy the monitor I linked and now it is $100 more than it was a few minutes ago when I posted this thread. :(

Tragic, happens to me all the time. I've become a buy now think later type person, but of course that is assuming you have the money on hand to buffer these sort of purchases.

Takes money to save money smh

I only hesitated because I was wanting some input on 1440p performance on my PC, but now I am glad I did as that screen is a Glossy coating and I am wanting a Matte Finish. The Alienware that pendragon1 linked has my attention now.

How about this, I'd consider this a buy now think later:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-Nit...5?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1800&from=/search

$150 for 240Hz 1440p IPS monitor. Got 139 upvotes on the buildapcsales subreddit, usually anything past 30 upvotes is a deal, anything past 100 is a particularly good deal, and 300 upvotes is when you get into pricing error territory

EDIT: I don't know if this is matte or glossy. No review of it on RTings either.

spec page says "anti-glare" so id assume its matte.

also a good option. although it only lists freesync...

Instead of asking you can check how your GPU handles 1440p yourself. Enable apropriate SRS scaling factor (1.5x), disable VSync if your current monitor is Hz limited, select 1440p in game and note fps.

Still Thinking about going 1440p. Have a couple more questions.

How does 1440p at medium settings look compared to 1080p Ultra?

Also, there are a lot of monitors the have Freesync and no G-sync, should I rule these out or not worry about VRR?

you should have already bought it and tried it by now...
I know, I am on disability and money has been tight with Christmas and all. And as you have helped me in another thread, I have been focusing on switching cases and had a power supply that was DOA that I had to replace. But now that is done I can focus on getting the new monitor.

Are you running the 5060 in your sig? That should be ok at 1440p with DLSS on in heavier stuff. Medium looks ok in most games, hell even low is ok a lot of the time. With a 5060 I'd expect that rather than dropping settings way down you'll just drop them a little and add a little DLSS, so it's probably more like high + upscaling vs. ultra.

You absolutely do want VRR capability. As for FreeSync vs. G-sync, FreeSync won. Real G-Sync monitors are rare and expensive, but most FreeSync monitors these days are G-Sync compatible. That's what you probably want - a G-Sync compatible FreeSync monitor. Real G-Sync is a little better if you have an NVidia card, but it's $$ and severely limits your screen choices so I'd recommend just getting the usual G-Sync compatible FreeSync screen like almost everyone else.

Yes I am running a RTX5060 Low Profile card.

I think what matters most to me in graphics settings is the Anti-Aliasing. I hate those jagged edges. I really notice it in Forza Horizon 4-5. The higher resolution should help with the jaggies.

I am currently considering the KOORUI G2721E and the Alienware AW2725DM.

Upscaling (DLSS, FSR, XeSS) is quite effective at removing jaggies. People often complain about it making the game look less sharp and you can get some transient artifacts, but DLSS on a 5060 should take out the jaggies. You have the card, give it a try. At 1080p since you haven't upgraded yet you can probably run DLAA in some titles. DLAA does tend to run a bit slower than native, so you'll likely need to use DLSS in heavier titles.

Well I bought the Asus VG27AQ3A, it went on sale for $200 and matches my current 1080p Asus monitor, I am also going to get a vertical monitor stand for some multi monitor fun. I'll let you know what I think after Amazon gets here with it sometime today.

[edit] Only game I have played is Forza Horizon 5 and it looks amazing. With the settings I have chosen I am getting about 85fps. I am happy with this. I really like the HDR, watching some videos on YouTube they look amazing and at 1440p I see no pixelization. Everything is nice and clear. Overall, I am glad I got this monitor.
[edit] Played some Doom: The Dark Ages and it looks really good, getting 75+fps. I'm really happy with the performance and visuals.

[edit]
Here is a pic of my current setup. Bottom display is the new Asus VG27AQ3A 1440p, Top is an Asus VG278 1080p, and the small one on the right is an 8.5 inch tablet connected using Spacedesk. I plan on getting a second VG277AQ3A to replace the 1080p monitor as it is a VA screen and at the angle I view it at, it starts getting darker at the top of the screen as well as to improve the look of the screens lining up better. I would also like to get Aida64 for the small screen to display computer stats but at the moment money is tight, and I am saving up for the second 1440p display.

I am currently running Wallpaper Engine to stretch the wallpaper (2560x2880) across the displays, is there an easy way to only display it on the 2 larger screens and have a separate wallpaper on the small screen?

I am liking the 1440p Asus monitor. However I am wanting to get a second 1440p monitor now so that both screens are the same resolution. I found the Asus VG27AQM5A for $220, only problem I see with it is that it is not G-Sync Compatible. I have a RTX5060 would I still be able to use VRR with it? Would ELMB replace the G-sync/Freesync? I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on this and if I would still be able to use VRR or not.

Typically you can force VRR on freesync monitors that are not listed a gsync compatible with an nvidia card. Not sure about this one specifically so it may be worth asking on an owners thread or Reddit if you see a specific discussion.

Pretty much all displays except most basic non-gaming office offering these days are compatible with Nvidia GPUs where it comes to variable frame rate tech.
Just not all of them specifically claim G-Sync compatibility.
