Posting this here for my niece: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1171947758...5-0&campid=5339073027&customid=9&toolid=10050

Backstory: About 8 years ago, I got my nieces and nephews interested in card and board games, but Pokemon TCG dominated (completely not my choice). So I gifted my eldest niece a Pokemon Sun & Moon tin for her 8th (?) birthday when she hit this card in one of the boosters. I immediately placed it into a top loader for her and she kept it with the rest of her loose cards. Fast forward to today, she's 14 years old and preparing for High School. As I was clearing out my shelf, I found an old binder of 1st edition and base set Pokemon TCG cards, so I decided to send some of them in for PSA grading along with her Gyarados GX. Her card was the only one in the lot to get a PSA 10 grade! I offered to send the slab back to her or have PSA sell it for her, and she chose to sell it for her college fund! Smart girl! And yes, we still occasionally play Pokemon TCG together, but she never made a deck that would work with a Gyarados GX, she was much more into Psychic/Grass type decks focusing on Eevee evolutions and Gardevoir.

Just curious; what approximately was PSA's turn around time for you? I've got a number of ~2000 era Pokemon cards that Ebay tells me are worth a pretty penny (🤷‍♂️, we shall see...) but last I checked (5-6 months ago) my semi-local card shop told be something like ~100 business days before I'd get them back, and it was $30 per card to have them graded. Might just roll the dice and sell them ungraded if that's still how things are. Just curious to see how the process was/went from ya.

And of course, GLWS!

Not OP but I submit to PSA via multiple avenues - Gamestop and direct - just plan on waiting at least 3 months (unless you pay for faster service via direct sub). For me it's like putting something in the bank and forgetting about it. It will show back up someday down the road. :)

If you have a good Gamestop I highly recommend it. They just do value submissions so you can't do anything expedited.

Submitting yourself is very easy if you don't want the Gamestop route - the prices have gone up and keep going up due to Pokemon and trading cards in general blowing up. Gamestop is the most cost effective route today.

I would recommend PSA grading anything that you have that has good value or that you would just like slabbed. It turns your card into a more liquid asset as every collector trusts PSA.

That's exactly how I need to think about it, lol! Submit it and forget about it :) They aren't doing me any good in their current box (penny sleeved and top loaded).

I keep forgetting that GS offers that service! Great call; the one I have in town is actually very reputable, I should swing by there and inquire.

Absolutely, PSA > the rest (CGC and others). Never have considered anything but PSA (if I were to follow through with getting them graded).

Yep, I submitted these cards on February 24 and they were completed on May 11. Personally prefer TAG for the appearance of their slabs and their consistency, but they don't offer to sell the cards for you like PSA does. If you're a collector, I'd strongly consider TAG. If you're just looking to grade and sell, then PSA is my recommendation.

Everyone is having issues with the demand: https://taggrading.com/pages/pricing.

I'll throw my hat in for SGC, as well - but PSA bought them in 2024. It is a mess out there, lol.
