The Sprint running NFS starts in a little over 1 day 6 hours from the time of this post and runs for three days. I don't think NFS needs a wingman for the work units (but I'm not 100% sure) so releasing them anytime from the start to the end will work.

I'll probably drop what I have bunkered soon after the start especially since I don't think my initial bunker was big enough to last until the start and I'll have to start a second one. The original estimated time per work unit the bunker was built on was about 33% longer than actual run time for the work units and I didn't build in enough of a fudge factor.

Correct NFS tasks do not require a wingman.

[H]ordes, going into the weekend, we should try to improve our team overall standing from #9 to #8 if we can just stay ahead of BOINC@Australia in the final sprint race - NFS. For additional info on NFS project like best PPD and system requirement, see my earlier post here. Sprint/NFS race will start today at 5pm/8pm PT/ET. Need a final push in the next 3+ days. Have fun and also some excitement if we can stay head of the Aussie team.

Einstein race will end in less than 4 hours. It's a good time to abort those tasks that you are unable to finish by then, so the tasks can be recycled back quickly for others to process them rather than let them expire. We are neck and neck with NoTeam (NT). In fact this morning at one point, the difference is only 3 O4AS tasks (3 x 18,000 points/task) separating both teams. So, please keep those einstein tasks running till 5pm/8pm PT/ET today.

Congrats team on squeezing a win over NT.

The French passed us in NFS though. Keep squeezing more PPD where you can and keep trying to recruit.

With about 1 day left in the 2026 Boinc Pent, our main focus will be defending our 9th place in MW and 8th place in NFS. Between these two, NFS (sprint) would be a better project if we want to make a quick dash to the finishing line to secure the next higher position. MW due to quorum of 2 and the fact that the wingman task will only be generated if you only completed and returned the first task, it is very likely that task validation especially for the longer running task (few hours) will unlikely to occur in the next 24 hours.

BOINC Pentathlon 2026 has just ended. As a team we finished 8th out of 21 teams.

Over the past five performances since 2022, our team finished 5-5-5-7-8 (2026). This year we have less participation than the previous 4 years but nevertheless I do enjoy this once a year event whether we perform well or not. Many thanks to all those who participated and hope to see you all return next year. The next big DC competition, IF Krembil gets their act together early is the WCG birthday challenge (organized by the same SETI Germany group) which starts on Nov 16, 00:00 UTC and runs through the next 7 days. The BOINC community is missing a good medical-related project for the past few years.

Constructive comments or suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks again!
